I just got it, one month ago. You know in which I speak. PJ greatest hits. I didn't even really like them until about a month ago, and now I am obsessed.

there is clearly a christ image in the song and the main character is treated in a similar fashion but it's not supposed to be Jesus per se.

I think you're talking about Given To Fly. You can interpret it any way you want really. Some folks say it's about the Jeeb, while others think it's about a surfer. The magic of most PJ songs is you can take them any way you'd like. Of course, you can say that about a ton of bands.
