My dad and I went to the final Mariners game today. They've been out of the race...well, for years really...yet they still draw pretty damn well.

They do this big Fan Appreciation thing for the final home series of each season, and this year was no different. I've also been checking highlights over the past few weeks on TV....and though the M's have been out of the race all the while, they still have handsome crowds night in & night out.

Pretty cool to see.

Anybody else here from a city with a shitty MLB team? If so, how do they draw when the team is WAAAAYYY out of the race?

(Marlins fans need not reply...I already know that they draw 6000 people per game, even in years when they win the WS).

Pretty much all the fans for every team here suck.

Let's see-

The Yanks fans let the overpaid players hear about it when they don't play up to snuff. And they haven't seen a losing season in over a decade.

Rutgers fans are getting more and more fired up every week the team wins.

And Bucs fans have that whole pirate thing going on... but I think they don't have the ship with the cannons anymore.

I agree with you. We have great fans in Kansas City when it comes to the Chiefs. But out of the 13 NFL stadiums I've been to, Cleveland are some of the most rabid.

Nebraska Football - I definately think so. They always have a huge turnout when they're on the road and they have like 281 consecutive sellouts.

Unfortunately, these are not the fans who get to see the games. The fans you generally see at the ACC are the ones who generally don't care either way but bought the jersey because they happened to be at the game because they happened to get some tickets from their boss... the real Leafs fans are sitting home on their couches watching the game and wishing the tickets hadn't all been set aside for corporate seats or sold for $200 a seat... oh well, I'd rather be in the latter group anyway...

id say the steelers have one of the most solid fan bases of any team on the road, but that has alot to do with the fact that the steel mills went to shit and there was a mass exodus in the early 80s

I almost think it says more about Denver that they sell out Colorado Crush AFL games.....every single one, and they freaking travel.

If you travel for Arena football, I have no doubt you're obsessed about the NFL.

Green Bay PAckers- amazing

Any Canadian Hockey teams- it's canada

BUffalo Bills - I give them credit.

i know exactly what you are saying. when you watch a leaf game at home going into the 2nd and 3rd period. the rich assholes who don;t even get back to their seats until 5-6 minutes into the period. But you can always tell who the great fans are when you see the amount of support we get on the road. Because these are the people who can;t afford going to the ACC. But they (I) make up for it.
