the Cardinals are fit to be toast... but hey, we've coasted into the playoffs 5 of the past 6 years (?) and not done shit... maybe this will help....
ha, right.
Yeah, I have no feel on how well the cards will do. The pitching is so up and down, but having fat albert as the ace in the hole means anything is possible. Not too mention the fact that it will be nice to have a fairly healthy Scott Rolen for the playoffs for once.

Why is that so laughable? It's not like there's a clear favorite among the 4 NL teams. If the Mets had the pitching and didn't finish the season so poorly, I would say that they had the best chance, but now I'm not so sure.

I certainly wish the Mets were playing the Cards. Not that I dont think they can beat the Dodgers, it only seems fair the team with the best record should play the worst team. Oh well. I still think/hope it will be Mets-Yankees.

worst team? the Dodgers were better than the Cards and have the same record as the Padres

I'm hoping for Mets-Yankees, with the Yankees taking it.
In the NL, the team with the greatest chance, IMO:
Mets
Padres
Dodgers
Cards
but they're all pretty close.
In the AL, the team with the greatest chance, IMO:
Yankees
A's
Tigers
Twins
but after Yankees, all pretty close.
I feel relatively confident when I say an AL team will win.

tigers ahead of the twins, eh? interesting.

Right I'm saying the Mets should get to play the Cards instead of the Dodgers since the Cards have the worst record.
My pre-season World Series pick was Mets over A's, so I'll stick with it. On paper, you'd think losing Pedro crushes the Mets, but they've still got that lineup.
And how can I pick any team to beat the Yankees... hmm, injured closer, injured 43-year-old #3 starter, and the fact that half the Yankees' roster cursed themselves to a lifetime of misery when they engineered trades or free agent deals to get to New York. Oakland's been winning all year, they were never seriously threatened in the division, and their pitching is getting healthy at the right time. Plus I just REALLY want to see them get out of the first round for once. Don't you?

as much as I want it to happen...something just tells me it won't.
But I'm still going to root like hell for my Dodgers.
