Who else thinks it would be pretty cool to see the guys cover a Nirvana song. Now i'm not a huge Nirvana fan but i do think it would be pretty cool to see them do a cover in respect to them. Or any of the other Seattle bands for that matter. I know they have done Smells Like Teen Spirit way back but i'd love to see them work on a cover and get it down for a Tour. Alice In Chains or Soundgarden would be amazing too.
NO (sigh, I guess I have to insert an imo here for the publically sensitive)!
Why cover a band that's in from the exact same era and exact same genre?
I mean, I actually know people that wish this just so they could relive grunge (literally tooling Vedder, which is not what I'm implying though). But why bother? I mean tags are fine. But, whole covers? No.
I would not like to see Pearl Jam cover anyone other bands or anyone else from the grunge era. Maybe a tag or two would be nice (Heart Shaped Box or SP's Drown), but why bother mimicing the alternate competitive friendly foundation of grunge?
Besides, the end product would not sound very original. Ick, let's not forget the whore-base/factor (not necessarily a bad thing) of the song Smells Like Teen Spirit. We don't need to re-emphasize it in this day and age. People that know Pearl Jam probably know about Nirvana. In fact, if anything, Nirvana should've covered Pearl Jam since they were more obscure at the time, but no longer is that the case.

Didnt Cobain disrepect Pearl Jam every chance he got? " Pearl jam are cockrockers who jumped on the Nirvana bandwagon"....or something like that was said. I dont believe pearl jam should show them the respect by covering a nirvana song.
At the New years show at the cow palace in 91 PJ plays a bit of "smells like teen spirit" Stone says "just remember we played it first" (They were opening for Nirvana and the RHCP) Awesome show with great energy.
