I've met the following: Dirk Kempthorne (Mayor of Boise/Idaho Senator/Idaho Governor): met him numerous times; he was actually at my father's memorial service.
Brent Coles (Mayor of Boise): he was there as well; he and his wife even sang Christmas Carols at my grandfather's house one year.
David Bieter (Mayor of Boise)
Tammy De Weerd (Mayor of Meridian, a suburb of Boise)
Several Boise City Council members
Bob Packwood (Oregon Senator)
CL "Butch" Otter (Idaho congressman/likely future Idaho Governor)
Jerry Brady (likely two-time loser of Idaho Governor race)
John Stossel (20/20 anchor): Fascinating speech he gave.
I haven't met the following but have seen them in person: Ralph Nader (consumer advocate): Another fascinating speech, even though I didn't agree with a lot of it.
Ted Kulongoski (Oregon Governor): Yawn.
Sherman Alexie (American Indian writer): Funny guy.
Al Gore
Hans Blix

Do all of those mayors of Meridian and such count?
I mean, my mother and stepfather were married by the Mayor of White Plains, and another mayor was our next door neighbor. I've seen Ed Koch walking in Greenwich Village. I saw Bill Clinton at a public campaign speech in Minneapolis in 1992. I saw John Edwards at a similar thing in Milwaukee in 2004 a couple blocks from my house. My wife was a PA on the Daily Show, and also used to be the person who screened Michael Moore's emails and ran shitty errands for him. I regularly meet with the mayor and other officials of a town of 5000 just outside of Phoenix, but I kind of look down on them. A guy I went to law school with is now the Secretary of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
I'm connected, man.

Oh yeah, that reminds me that I had a poli sci teacher who was a former congressman. David Sprague. He held office for one term, and then lost to the man who is now president of CU (Hank Brown).

I've met the mayor of Chapel Hill.
I saw Clinton speak in college.
Met the governor of Ohio when I was too young to have a clue who he was.
I've also met my state reps and senators.

I saw Clinton give a speech on his first campaign on the mall at the U of Michigan, I was about 15 feet from him the entire time with a clear view, it was awesome.

Seen US Prez Jimmy Carter
Being from DC it's not exactly fair but, I've seen:
Reagan
Both Clintons
Bush I (shoke his hand)
Son-of-a-Bush
Dean
George Allen
Last 3 governers of Maryland
Paul Sarbanes
The Dahli Llama (no iea how to spell that)
...and a bunch of others who came to speak @ U of Maryland while I was in school there. And no I never took speelling or grammar.
The 4th of July celebration on the National Mall is always loaded with politicans.
I had a private tour of the White House a couple years back - saw GW give a speech in the Rose Garden, met Senator John Kerry and spoke with him briefly (very nice guy) and met Senator Edward Kennedy (just a hand shake).

I was at this summer camp sort of thing two summers ago hosted by the American Legion and run by Marines, called Boys' State of NY. Eliot Spitzer, attorney general of NYS and then probable gubernatorial candidate, gave a speech.
And like last week or so, Hillary Clinton. It was really weird. I was walking to my Middle Eastern History class, and a police car with two black SUV's following it was driving on the walkway by my dining hall. They parked outside the Union, and then like 4 or 5 guys in suits got out of the SUV's and stood around for a minute or two. Someone told me it was Hillary Clinton, so I stuck around for a minute. After like two minutes, she got out of the car and walked into the union. Really strange.

Robert Byrd, this past 4th of July doing a speech. I figure that's got to be one of the last chances right there.

Kerry, Edwards (shook his hand), Sen. Jay Rockefeller, Rep. Nick Rahall, Rep. Shelley Moore Capito (what a bitch), former WV governor, Bob Wise, and current governor, Joe Manchin. I keep missing Senator Byrd even though he comes to Marshall a lot and has spoken in my hometown a few times recently as well. I did see the guy running against him in a hotel a few months ago, though.
