The word "wave" has been mentioned many times in pj song lyrics. The first mention...

...I'll ride the wave where it takes me....

Release/Ten

Any clue on the next mention and the next and the...?

Actually, Oceans contains the first "wave".

waves roll in my thoughts

The next mention of waves is in Tremor Christ:

the smallest oceans still get...big, big waves...

although Last Exit has the theme of the ocean all in it.

The word "wave" next appears in the song, In My Tree. But, it's not within the oceanic theme.

wave to all my friends, yeah

I, too stand corrected. RVM has this:

wounds in the mirror waved

but, it doesn't follow the theme.

Oceans:
Waves roll in my thoughts.

Release:
I'll ride the wave where it takes me...

Rearviewmirror:
Wounds in the mirror waved...

Tremor Christ:
The smallest oceans still get... big, big waves...

In My Tree:
wave to all my friends, yeah

Given to Fly:
A wave came crashing like a fist to the jaw,

Push Me, Pull Me:
All just breaking like waves...

Sleight of Hand:
He waves goodbye, to himself...

Love Boat Captain:
Is this just another phase? Earthquakes making waves...

Green Disease:
Turns out he's the one making waves... waves... waves...

Life Wasted:
Darkness comes in waves...

Worldwide Suicide:
It's the same everyday and the wave won't break

Severed Hand:
I can’t close my eyes, cause I see the sound in waves

Parachutes:
Further back and forth, a wave will break on me today

Big Wave:
Got me a big wave, ride me a big wave, got me a big wave.

Gremmie Out of Control:
But he'll never scramble when the big waves start to roll...

Undone:
Change don't come at once, it's a wave... building before it breaks.

Yellow Ledbetter:
yeah, but they don't wave.

Man of the Hour:
Tidal waves don't beg forgiveness; crash, then on their way.

I guess that's all.

it's a surfing/ocean expression. It is the point where the wave stops cresting and crashes in. Do you mean how does it work metaphorically?

Geez, I must've been tired when I was doing this last night. Two easy ones I missed. Well, three counting Ledbetter.

yes. I have my ideas and found one person that agreed, but I'd love to hear other people's thoughts on this.

Did you come up with all this, or refer to a pre-researched doc somewhere?
Either way, very impressive!

I take it as the narrator's death. Life is just one big wave...it builds and it builds, only to eventually crash. But I see the song's meaning differently than most.

The use of the word wave on Avocado--in all of it's meanings--is surely worth a doctoral dissertation. Seriously: I do think it appears again and again for a reason.

Besides the fact that Eddie surfs.

I was tempted to make a thread about Parachutes in order to get people's interpretations. I too feel it's about the narrator's death or his willing to die, maybe to commit suicide
