one of the two following things will happen:

-- alex will realize he's legally blind and guessing at major league pitchers isn't really successful when the pitchers are good. he'll get contacts and become better.

-- alex's career as a yankee is over.

2 things, one not making excuses for the guy but you find me someone to hit a 103 mph (which by the way the yankee stadium radar gun is so bad its gross, farnsworth throws 101 at yankee stadium and doesnt hit 98 on the road) fast ball coming out of a shadow

also the guy tries to hard, hes almost sawing through the bat with his hands, he needs to calm down n go back to hitting the ball to right field, also the thing i dont get is how in the world is booing the guy going to help at all?

giambi said the same thing, and he's right -- a-rod needs to relax. loose muscles are quick muscles and he's tight as a fucking 16-year-old congressional page.

booing doesn't really help anything, but that's yankee stadium.

His contract makes him virtually untradeable. The Rangers are paying a large portion of it, but $1M of that comes off every year, making the NYY portion larger.
He's a Yank until the contract is up.

I wish NYY fans would STFU and realize that he's going to challenge Bonds for the HR record. Get off his fucking back.

You do know that his numbers thus year were .290 35 HR 121 RBI
I'm pretty sure he doesnt need to do anything differently. Second best player in baseball. By the far most over blown slump in the history of any sport

I love how Yankees' fans expect the organization to sign or trade for every player, no matter the size of the contract (including a $150 million one) and then bitch when it doesn't pan out. We're talking about one of the best players in baseball and Yankees fans are booing him. If you're going to boo someone, boo your GM for making the ridiculous trade.

By the way, as a Tigers' and Cubs' fan, I'll take a guy that hit .280, 35+ HRs, and over 100 RBI as my 6th hitter anyday.

Hopefully he can learn to relax in pressure situations.

Other than that, I'll take those numbers.....in a DOWN year....

He's the 6th hitter. Still plenty of time to change that legacy if he loosens up.

The guy was an amazing Short Stop and they just move him to 3rd and expect him to be just as great there. He's not even the highest paid Yankee this season, I understand why people are giving him crap....just not to this level.

i think it's his function of being useless in clutch performances that angers yankee fans. sure he has the stats, but they are in less key moments. I think yankee fans are more apt to love a jorge posada or aaron boone type player with lesser stats because they were put in tough situations in the playoffs and managed to make things happen. They were part of amazing wins. So that is where the anger comes from. i think all fans in any sport have this anger. Guys are paid a lot of money, and the top ones even more. They need to be built to deliver when put in hard positions.

the problem is steinbrenner. if a-rod goes through this postseason going 3-4, striking out twice with the bases loaded, then i can't see how george allows this guy to stay around. he's been a centerpiece of the yankees failures the past few years.

this thread has very little to do with how i actually feel about a-rod, by the way. i'm talking purely about outside possibilities.

The Yankee radar gun may be off, but I saw Zumaya hit 101 AND 102 mph in Pittsburgh.

Koufax will love this.

Last night, no joke, I had a dream that New York irrationally traded Rodriguez to the Dodgers for basically nothing in return. I don't remember who it was. Probably JD Drew, he's basically nothing.

I have mixed feelings for booing. I think it's good for fans to voice their displeasure for their overpaid superstar. If he hasn't living up to his expectations after a whole season, start booing. Let the head office hear it, let the batter hear it. I think Alex should be professional and try hard for some cheers.

Jeter has intangibles.......

I feel bad for this poor mother fucker........ Its really amazing, I feel like every time I see him in a big AB, he'll come up after a pitcher has been wild and the guy will paint a corner with the first pitch putting him behind in the count... its like on top of everything else he has bad luck........ Hard to call him poor though

This season, he had a couple of amazing games. He was cheered. The next night, he went 1-for-4 or something. He was booed.

Unless the guy hits .430 with 78 home runs and 200 RBIs, he will be booed at Yankee Stadium. And even then, if the Yanks don't win the World Series, he will be blamed.

Id do Penny, Furcal, and Drew for AROD right now.

Im pretty sure Arod knows how to charge a double play ball, unlike Rafael last night.

fuck. id take those numbers. spankees can have morgan ensberg.

the next time arod has a great game, and the yankee fans want a curtain call, he should just sit his ass down on the bench and tell them to fuck off. lmao. that will make things 100% better

and then when asked by reporters after the game why he didnt come out for a curtain call, he should reply with, "i wanted to, but my fat ass wallets were weighing me down..."

thats exactly the problem, he's trying to hard for cheers and thats the reason the guy cant hit......and as far as booing i think its dumb because he cant win with some of these fans he can go 4-5 and the next days he's 0-4 he'll be booed

Koufax, you'd be ripping ARod just like Yankees fans do about a month after this trade. And, no, ARod doesn't know how to charge a double play ball, he blew about 10 of them this year alone (just ask Mike Mussina, about 5 of them were behind him). You need to watch ARod everyday to understand the frustration...his numbers on paper look great as usual but they just don't tell the story.
