i wanted to let the fellow leaf fans out there know that when sundin scored the winner tonight, i got all choked up. here's a guy who's toiled so loyally
for us for so many years without ever openly criticizing management, who's
such a class act, who's so often unfairly criticized...and he gets the OT
game-winner, giving him a hat-trick on the night and 500 goals in his
career. when he skated out for the first star announcement to the cheering
throngs you could see him clap his hands and linger for an extra few seconds
on the ice. Classic Mats - you could tell how special the moment, but he was
dignified and restrained, not showing anybody up and spreading the credit
around to his teammates and the fans. I really teared up. we're lucky to
have him.
