I am currently reading Songs of the Doomed by Hunter S. Thompson. It's pretty interesting. I have seen Fear and Loathing, probably the best movie to watch under the influence of any substance. But my question is, have any of you read any books by Thompson, and what can you recommend?

Fear and Loathing is hilarious, and I heard his autobiography book is great too

i read fear and lothing years before the movie came out and i have to say it was the most exhausting read ever. all of his books are like that. you have to put it down after each chapter and regain your strength.

What's up with Hunter. He was writing columns for ESPN Page 2, but they disappeared all of a sudden. He's still listed as a columnist for them but I haven't seen any new stuff in quite a while.

They don't usually show them on the main page. If you click on his name he has some new ones

Has anyone ever read/heard about when Johnny Depp hung out with him before or during the making of "Fear and Loathing?"
I saw an interview on PBS and he spoke a bit about it, nothing really sticks out as far as what happened, it'd be great if he woke up under an american flag with a tail at his back in a hotel room full of water though wouldn't it?
