anyone ever hear of these guys? i'm flipping through the september 2004 issue of rolling stone and i read the following:

the los angeles trio speciliazes in what singer-producer aaron espinoza calls "end-of-the-movie music" -- melancholy, delicately pretty ballads and gloomy shoegazer pop.

"most of the record is about elliott smith," espinoza says of treble and tremble, their fourth expansive, heart-rendering album. "i lived about twenty feet from his house. he needed someone around to remind him that 'hey, it's ok.' he was incredibly intelligent, really warm and a genius musically."

man, i typed from the hard issue and did a terrible job. fixed now.

That's a pretty good album.

know anything about the rest of their work?

Nope, just downloaded that one. I don't know it back to front, but I remember it being good.

that description excites me.

i saw them open for Grandaddy a number of years ago, they were pretty sweet

they're playing here in the coming weeks but i can't go because i have work

I have Everyone Down Here and Tremble & Tremble. Both a very good, but T & T is probably the one to start off with.

They are a pretty safe bet though really. Nothing too new or outstanding, just simple, affective, good songs. Melancholy is a good term for them.

I dig We drink on the job. A good little song.

are they worth the purchase, then? i really like melancholy music.

i'm guessing it's treble and tremble considering that's their 2004 release.
