All right, so with the new Gruesome Edition DVD out, let's talk about this awesome, awesome sequel.
Man, this is a pretty tasty DVD. The artwork, despite looking way too much like the Saw movies (especially the inside which has a severed arm and leg on the ground), actually looks much better in person. Or maybe I'm just a sucker for slipcovers.
Anyway, I've decided that this movie is pretty much a perfect sequel. It really is quite awesome, despite the mostly terrible music. It's funny, it's violent, and it's got Dennis Hopper and Bill Moseley!
My only complaint was that they deleted the "nighttime hunt" sequences. What the fuck was Hooper thinking?! Those could have been the best parts of the movie! Yuppie college kids getting their heads sawed in half? Dismembered? Spraying blood everywhere? Joe Bob Briggs seeing Leatherface saw two girls to death and exclaiming "THREE AND A HALF STARS! THAT'S SAWFUL!"? Um, shit yeah!

Yeah, it does kick ass, doesn't it?
I rented this several years ago, excited that I had finally been able to get my hands on a copy. Since then, my brain has done me the kind service of forgetting much of what I saw that evening.
I don't know LV, it is boring on its own but when compared to the original, it's really bad.
Hopper is enjoyable, I guess (as he usually is for one reason or another). But that's all I'm willing to concede.

"I am the harvest of the lord."
"What's that? Some new health food bunch?"
It's pretty cool. It gets shitty at the end, though.
I could've swore that I have - but I just realized that I have not - seen TCM3. I'll have to look into that. I heard the uncut version is completely different, but the dvd has both, so I'm good.

TCM3 is decent. Not as good as 2. But it does have Ken Foree, so that's something.
I'd love it if the full version were to have survived. Sounds like it would have kicked ass. Too bad it got hacked to death.

I thought it was on the dvd? It says "r-rated and unrated verions."

But I guess even that isn't the real thing?
Even the unrated version isn't the full uncut version. The studio cut carnage from the original negative, and the cut footage was destroyed. It's a shame - the original cut was supposed to be very brutal.

I'm in the minority who liked this sequel. I think it was a wise move to go in the direction that they did and add humor, since there was no way to be scarier than the original.
Bill Mosely is gold in this. "Music...is my life". Gotta love Chop Top.
Lots of good one liners too. "Don't skimp on the meat, the secret's in the sauce!". I haven't been able to check out the new dvd yet, is it going for much?
