whoa there, schilling isn't a hall of famer? maybe not in the NFL.

I say no.
207 wins, 3110 innings, 3015 Ks, 3.44 ERA.
Zero Cy Young awards
1 LCS MVP
1 WS MVP

Most similar pitchers over the course of a career:
1. Kevin Brown (915)
2. Bob Welch (901)
3. Orel Hershiser (896)
4. Dazzy Vance (894) *
5. Mike Mussina (892)
6. David Cone (890)
7. Milt Pappas (883)
8. Lew Burdette (876)
9. Don Drysdale (875) *
10. John Smoltz (875)

*Indicates Hall of Fame Member.

He's very, very good...but wasn't for long enough. I'd argue that he actually only had 4-6 great seasons and then just a lot of strikeouts. I mean, is Kevin Brown a HOFer? No way.

Zero chance at Hall of Fame. His win total is too low. He'll get more votes than he should, though, because his whole career he's been good to the press. That counts for some voters.

Dont Kenny Rogers and Schilling have some similar numbers outside of the K's?

(im too lazy to look it up, and i think i remember it being brought up when schilling pitched against the tigers this year)

based on his regular season stats....NO WAY. But if the voters want to put him in because of what he's done in the playoffs - I wouldn't have a problem with it.

If he gets in, Mussina should get in. They have similar numbers but Moose was in the tougher league and more durable.

Nope. If he played for decent teams in Philly he might have had a good chance.

He also was dominant in the playoffs in 1993

Well, if he doesn't get in, we know it won't be because of his lack of politiking or lobbying efforts. One of the reasons I like when the Red Sox lose is that Schilling finally has a reason to keep his big trap shut.

If Jack Morris is not in by the time that Schilling's eligible, there's absolutely ZERO justification for letting Schilling in.

That is all.

Nope. Great clutch picther, but is he better than John Smoltz during his career?

I think Smoltz will get in.
