so my buddy got me some tickets to tonites mavs/cavs game
the seats were great, behind the basket to the back corner of the arena, allowing me to see all the plays etc, and hear the chatter from the players.
i wasnt rooting one way or the other. personally i cant bring myself to root for a shithole like cleveland, but at the same time, im not a huge mavs fan.
bron and dirk are both really really big people, its amazing the things they do at their size, and while its easy to say that seeing them on TV, its more impressive when you actually measure them up.
the game was fairly tight in the 4th, so naturally thats when lebron and dirk sit. the cavs have a nice rook or hes only been in the league a few years at most, named sasha something or other. very smooth and doesnt rush things, but seemed fairly quick while doing it. devin harris seemed to make play after play for the mavs as their first scoring option when dirk and stack were not on the floor.
probably the highlight of the game was drew gooden sitting on one side of mellon arena, pointing to a gal in a white bandana on the other side of the court, and getting her to play with her tits for him. i probably watched that a good 5 minutes after my brother pointed it out.
of course ben rothlisberger was there, and once they put him up on the screen, he then made a quick exit.
NBA games are such a production. Scared the shit out of me the first time I heard the ball clank off the rim and realized they actually mic those things...
personally i cant bring myself to root for a shithole like cleveland,
Oh yeah because Pennsylvania is such a great state. Get a life.

Cool, it sounds like you enjoyed it.
I haven't been to an NBA game yet (I've been to several CBA games, though), but hopefully that will change in January. I'll be in Seattle for a few days and I see that the Sonics play the Bucks on the 19th. I would love to go.

NBA games are painfully boring... until the 4th quarter... the atmosphere of college games blows it away... it's not even close... NBA playoff games are much better, but even that energy is nowhere near that of the big college contests

put NBA games in smaller venues and the atmosphere would be about the same.

there are several elements that make the atmosphere better, not just the size of the venue... the Dean Dome seats 21,000+... it's not small and i'm sure it averages more fans than the average nba contest... so, it's not just venue size we're talking about here
-get college kids to jam the first 30 rows
-get the school band to fire everyone up
-get 20,000 people to wear the same color
-get fans that show up on time
and those are just a few... like i said, the atmoshpere isn't even close to that of a big college hoops contest

but you said the "game is boring".
what do bands and people wearing the same color have to do with what's going on the court? Absolutely nothing. Maybe you go to games to get entertained by lame bands and stupid chants....I prefer to concentrate on what's happening on the court.

we were talking about the atmosphere of the game... the atmosphere of an nba game doesn't pick up until the end... then you can feel the energy... in a college game it happens the moment you step on the campus... much, much different.

so maybe you meant to say, "all the meaningless crap that goes on in the stands is more exciting at a college game than an NBA game".

going to Knicks games in the 90s was always a great time. when the team mattered and we all thought they could win it all each year, the atmosphere was amazing. but these days the Garden crowd is dead and its just not fun. certainly not worth 40 bucks for the train-80 bucks for 2 nosebleed tix-100 on food and beer. havent gone to the garden in 3 yrs

yup, I only go when I get free tickets. Any of the decent seats are ridiculously expensive.
there was an article in the paper yesterday how the season ticket holder base has dwindled. Maybe that will get Dolan's attention.

I'd just be happy if he learned how to dribble, shoot, and pass. the guy looks like he just started playing basketball yesterday. I wouldn't let him touch the ball except on alley-oops. To make matters worse, Steph is starting to break down physically. I'm afraid by the time this guy finally gets it mentally, his body will be shot.

i dunno if steph will never get it mentally. so far this season hes done more talking about his cheap shoes and wanting to do a TV show than playing basketball.
