Went and saw Umphrey's Mcgee at The Riviera in Chicago last night. Bad ass concert, Buckethead opened for them and even came on and jammed with them for a song. The only complaints I have are it being too crowded, you couldn't move without bumping into someone or them doing the same to you, and the six dollar beer. Other than that the concert was great. If anyone is interested in checking them out, let me know and i'll hook you up.

They're playing in Iowa City soon I think. What kind of music are they? Know anybody that would be willing to lend me a deck for taping (I have mics)?

they are a jam band, even though they don't like to call themselves one. this isn't a bad thing at all. their music is so layered and all mixes together so well. do yourself a favor and go see them, you will not be dissapointed, and you will prolly become an instant fan, i was the first time i saw them. i don't know anyone willing to lend a deck for taping, sorry. if you really want to check them out, hit me up on aim or check out http://db.etree.org/etree_shnlist.php.

I wouldn't really call them a Jam Band, they are more 'Progressive Jam'.

I love UM so much. One of the tightest touring bands out there without a doubt. I've seen them a few times, I bought Bayliss a beer last time they were in Boston.
