I just put on this album again, and what a scorcher this is. I especially like the one-two punch of Junkhead and Dirt.

The album portrays a dark period in the bands' life, but they sure made it interesting to listen to for us fans. One of my fav albums ever.

I feel kind of awkward about that album and AIC as a whole these days. I used to love it, and the band, but it seems to have lost something with me. Maybe my tastes have grown away from it, maybe I'm burned out on it or something, but all I know is that I really want to get into that album again but I can't seem to get through an entire spin of it. :?

That album is so groundbreaking on so many levels. I love it, its one if not my fav of the 90's.

RIP Layne

Good album.

S/T is better, though.

They sound tired, less interested, and rushed on Tripod. Plus the individual songs aren't nearly as good. I still like Tripod but Dirt is just a masterpiece. It is the band in their prime, no doubt

I assume S/T means self titled and I agree that Dirt wipes the floor with S/T. I still love S/T though!

What's with the different tracklisting.

On the cassette-version I had, Down in a Hole was after Rain when I die On the CD it's between Angry Chair and Would?. I always thought it was best after Rain... The Angry Chair into Would? is a killer-combo.

Anyone know why?

My CD's like the cassette. I can't imagine why your tracklisting would be different. :?

I'm not sure why. I have both versions and the one with Rain into Down in a Hole seems much better. According to jerry, Junkhead/Dirt/Godsmack/hate to Feel/Angry Chair is basically one big song talking about the perils of heroin use. he said that a lot of people thought Junkhead was promoting drug use but it was just telling the mindset of the druggie at that time. Dirt(the song) is the result of that mindset with the rest of the songs showing how much worse it gets.

Dirt is a great album, but I'm not certainly not as attached to it as I was ten years ago.

They were definitely at the peak of their powers during the Dirt/Jar Of Flies era. Those albums, plus the two songs they recorded for the Last Action Hero soundtrack, are just fantastic.

Yeah, they changed it after the first pressing I believe. I don't know why. I remember when I bought it when it came out, Down in a Hole was toward the end, then when I bought a new one a few years later, it was song 4. Weird.

The first one looks more accurate to me, actually. This one is too yellow or something.
