28 WEEKS LATER has found a leading man!!!

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Like most of you fellow horror fans, I really dug Danny Boyle's 28 DAYS LATER. I liked it much more when it was a survival story and not a crazy army people story, but all that aside I think it holds up really well. The sequel, 28 WEEKS LATER, which Boyle will not direct (however he will produce alongside Alex Garland (screenwriter of the original) and Andrew MacDonald), is underway, eye-ballin' a May '07 release. And now they've cast the new heroic lead, a young man by the name of Jeremy Renner who was in NORTH COUNTRY recently and will appear in that JESSE JAMES flick starring Brad Pitt.

The story of the sequel sounds like the Special Forces have stepped up and have restored a good amount of order. They try to repopulate London when a carrier of the virus slips in and reignites the spread of the rage.

INTACTO director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo directs. If the flick is half as fun and inventive as the first, then I'll be happy. Fingers crossed.

Don't think we really need a sequel to this.

doesn't sound like the best plot line. the fact that they couldn't come up with something better tells you that there didn't really need to be a sequel.

His name is Quint.

And if Danny Boyle isn't directing or Cillian Murphy starring, I don't want to see it.

This is sure to be one of those huge disappointments that you see coming from a mile off.

I agree. I wasn't too impressed with the first one...especially when it dove into the crazy army man story and the lead guy going barbaric.

What the fuck Muse song is this?

Also, I think I'm getting excited about this from what people at DreadCentral said about seeing the first 28 minutes

I might see this just to see Stringer Bell with his British accent.

It's suppose to be metaphorical, but it's such a radical redirection of the action that I can see how many people whould get turned off by it.

Sequels are usually wait-till-it's-on-cable movies.

Yeah I wasn't too excited until I read the Dread Central stuff. Sounds like it might actually have some potential. That new poster kicks ass too.

If it can capture the same mood and atmosphere as 28 Days Later, I'll be happy. I still wish Danny Boyle was directing, but I hope I'm surprised.

At least he's EP on it, so there's some hope.
