I think Cal still got shafted. Just cause they didn't turn in a good game tonight means nothing. I mean, they had nothing to play for. To get stuck playing a bowl game on Dec. 30 was shit. They deserved far better, and probably didn't give a rat's ass about their performance in this shit bowl.

If that's the case, then they don't deserve anything better than the Holiday Bowl.
Everybody can make all the excuses they want, if #4 Cal can't go in and rape Texas Tech's defense, then they don't deserve the Rose Bowl or any other top bowl game.
And this is coming from somebody that's attending Texas Tech as we speak.

Wow that was harsh. I wish Tech wouldn't have wasted a bowl bid on this one. I would have loved to see Baylor give it a run.... That at least would have been a good game. All this really proves though, is that if the worst of the Big12 South actually played on the west coast, our 7-4 teams would be playing for national championships. Next up, USC, and Michigan.

Yes. I've said along that they weren't better than Texas. However, the sportwriters and coaches voted them No. 4 all year long, and it didn't make sense to drop them after a win at the last game of the year. If they weren't good enough at that time, they shouldn't have been voted that high all year long.

It isn't the first time something like this happened. I think it was in '99 when UCLA and Kansas State were both undefeated going into their last games. Kansas State lost in the Big 12 championship and dropped all the way down to the Alamo bowl and got manhandled by Purdue. The same year UCLA was undefeated until their last game and lost. Then they went to the Rose Bowl and lost to Wisconsin.
The point is, I wasn't surprised to see Cal struggle last night. When teams just miss out on something big, they seem to lose focus and motivation and come out flat. It's also tough after not playing for a month (although Texas Tech was in the same situation).

that wasn't the question. The question is did they deserve it or not, not do you think sportswriters are idiots.

I think they deserved it. This was their first clunker of the season.

Cal was without Geoff McArthur, an All-America WR in many publications. That really hurt their passing game.
It's not as if they're the first team to struggle with TT either.
