Ahahaha, I haven't seen any of them either, most of them with intention. If I purposely didn't go to see them, I hadn't heard of them. The ones I'd heard of looked simply awful. I can't afford to waste eight bucks anymore.
Thanks for posting the list, Zeb!

As for the best, the only one I've seen in the actual top ten is Kill Bill: Volume Two. I still desperately want to see Sideways, but haven't had the time the past few months.
I didn't think Spider Man 2 looked exceptional. The first one wasn't anything wonderful, but I haven't seen this one, so it isn't fair to judge. Maybe I'll see it eventually, but I really have no motivation to watch it.
I've seen many of the films in his second list, and some that I still want to see. It seems like a pretty solid fifteen. I thought sure in the documentaries section he'd mention Supersize Me, as it had received great reviews elsewhere. However, the lists in general seem pretty well constructed, as far as I can tell.

I'm with you. I only see movies that I'm 99% certain that I'm going to love. Entertainmenty, popcorn-type movies just don't get a look in these days.

Right, exactly! That's part of the reason I haven't been to a theater much over the past year. Either I don't have the time or I don't have the motivation to see whatever film is out! I go by my instincts for the theaters, because there have been plenty of movies that have been reviewed nicely and have been godawful wastes. If a friend really thinks a lot of a movie I think looks stupid, I'll wait until it comes out and rent it.

Spiderman 2 the 4th BEST movie of 2004?!
Okay, so apparently, I haven't gone completely mad.

For all its controversy, I thought this film was done really well, with the vibrant score and the intense imagery. Maybe I would have been skeptical if he had put it at number one on his top ten list, but I think its place is well-deserved.

I liked "The Girl Next Door." Otherwise, I can't argue with anything on the worst-of list (although I haven't seen "Dogville" yet and I expect that I might like it).
"Spider-Man 2" being #4 on the best-of list, though, is pure lunacy.

Troy wasn't great, but there is no chance in hell it is THE worst movie of the year. Think about all the crap that has come out (white chicks, etc), how can you call Troy the worst? Eric Bana was amazing!

I wholeheartedly agree with Alexander. That movie sucked. The villiage was pretty good. Typical M Night Shymalan. I missed the rest of them (thankfully)...
also Resident Evil wasnt too bad. Its saving factor was how cool it was to see Toronto (Racoon City???) get nuked...hehehe that was cool

The best movie of the year was "Eternal Sunshine...", without competition. The worst could easily have been "Alien Vs. Predator".
As for "The Passion"... Badly acted, sloppy direction and missing any target demographic. I was actively repulsed by this movie. The problem lies in that to appreciate a snuff film like this, the viewer has to start off with at least some emotional connection to the person. To people like me, to whom the character of Christ is (at least in the way he is portrayed in christianity) of a fictional nature, the two hour torture session is just that: a torture session. No emotional value whatsoever.
I hated the passion of the christ with all my heart. It's defninitely not the worst film of the year, but by far my most loathed and hated film ever.
