The episode where Bender Plays god to a tiny of people colony growing on his ass while he floats through the universe should be used in every philosophy course in America.

Better than the Simpsons?
Very good, but not better than the Simpsons.

Question: Do you think we'll get to see more Futurama?
David X Cohen: Well, I don't want to give false hope to any Futurama fans, because we haven't heard anything specific from the Fox network.
If Family Guy comes back and it's a big hit, I think somebody at the network would have to turn their attention back to Futurama to at least consider it for another five minutes.

Reruns get great ratings on the Cartoon Network. Any chance of a ''Family Guy''-like resurrection for ''Futurama''?
Matt Groening: We're trying to figure it out. If we can do more episodes, we'd love to. It's a very ambitious show, and it's very expensive. That's been a sticking point. What [co-developer] David Cohen and I would love is to continue many of the stories we worked out in advance. All science-fiction epics have an underlying theme, which is ''things are not what they seem to be,'' and that was certainly the case with ''Futurama.'' David and I worked for a couple of years [planning the show] before we even pitched it, and we haven't revealed all of the secrets that are embedded in it. There are even characters that we created back in the beginning of the series that we never got around to introducing. It looks like a goofy cartoon, but the underlying science-fiction ideas are pretty good.

Hello, all!
David X. Cohen here. I just wanted to reassure everyone that even if my new show "Grandmaster Freak & The Furious 15" gets on the air (always a long shot in this business), I will never stop lobbying to bring Futurama back -- unless it does come back, in which case I will stop lobbying for it to come back. This doesn't put any new nails in Futurama's coffin; at the same time, it doesn't pry out any nails that were already there. I guarantee you that if FOX is interested in bringing Futurama back, Matt Groening & I will find a way. In fact, if FOX ends up paying me to do another show, then if anything it might make it more economical for them to bring Futurama back.
The new pilot is an idea I've been working on for over a year. Obviously it's completely different from Futurama, but I am very excited about it. It's based somewhat on my own school years... I grew up in Englewood, New Jersey, in the time and place where the show is set (the early-to-mid 1980's). Englewood was home of Sugar Hill records, where many early rap hits were recorded.
I have long been a rap fan, and especially a fan of Ice Cube, so I approached him to see if he was interested in being involved... and he was. The show is not actually about music; it's about the intertwined daily lives and adventures of the many odd characters in the show. We are not currently planning musical performances in every episode, as the Variety article said, though there will be music when relevant to the episode.
The Variety article leaked out early, hence there were no comments from me or FOX that might have better explained some of it.
If I can quote Matt Groening for a moment: When executives told Matt that they had expected Futurama to be more like the Simpsons, he replied, "It's just like the Simpsons -- new and original."

Obviously, you all know that Futurama is in re-runs on Cartoon Network, and I beleive thay have even aired the dozen or so episodes that were completed but never aired on Fox. It would be really nice to see some new episode produced though.

There's so much brilliant stuff in the background of this show. In the episode where Bender goes to robot hell, there is a banner on the wall for like 2 seconds in the background that reads:
10 SIN
20 GOTO HELL
