Do tough sports seasons ever affect your day-to-day mood? It usually doesn't for me, but this Fall has been especially rough on me with both Baylor and the Cowboys (and now the Mavs) looking piss poor after some lofty pre-season expectations.

Do you ever start thinking about sports in the middle of the day and just think, "Fuck." Cuz I have recently. And I know Koufax has something to say about this.

the only time Ive ever been effected by sports where I couldnt function for days later would be the Rams losing that super bowl. it STILL pisses me off and depresses me to this day. whenever it comes up

dont get me wrong, the teams I root for have never really been so great that they could let me down THAT much, but mondays after a Rams loss are kinda mopey, but with all of my teams by midseason if it looks like they have no shot at the title (which is every yr it seems like) then I can pretty much limit my pissed-off-ness to day of or day after.

this past Sunday the Rams lost bad to the Chiefs, and I get the updates texted to my cell, but I was at my daughters christening and couldnt give a shit, me and my dad were laughing actually at how shitty the Rams were, which is rare since we both usually share the misery

the shit I type on here is all for kicks, basically im sitting at work bored to death. such is life

I've gotten better as I've gotten older. The more things you have to worry about, the less time you have to worry about sports. That said, Mondays are MUCH better after a Giants win.

I found the same thing. my high school years (in between trying to and usually failing ot get laid) were spent living and dying with every knicks game. June of 1994 me and my buddy Dave almost killed ourselves over losing the finals. Senior year when they lost to Indy, its amazing we recovered in time for graduation day.

I can get over a Rams loss by sunday night, but like RT says, Mondaysafter they win are always great days, talking football around the office. its no fun to run into everyone and talk sports and then contribute a "yeah, well my guys got hammered yesterday, god they suck"

Spring of '94 took about 5 years off my life. Between the Knicks and Rangers both going to game 7 of the finals (and both going to game 7 of the previous series), I was emotionally spent. If something similar were to happen now, I'd probably have a heart attack.

i went for a walk after the illini/unc championship game, but it didn't really affect my day to day mood. i watch sports for enjoyment, so if i ever let myself be affected to the point i wasn't enjoying, i would make myself stop watching.

the week after the '03 nlcs was pretty shitty, and it was actually made worse because the next sunday the dolphins lost to the patriots at home because the dirt was still on the field only because the marlins were still playing :x

I wake up upset sometimes but hey... in the end, I've been a fan of the losing ass falcons for so long I remind myself to take the bright spots where I can find them.

All the good moves in the off season....yeah they are all injured.

I was really upset after the Saint's game for about 3 days, after that I've toned it down.

If we go 10-6 I'll be ecstatic

I'm over being upset about the Braves. 91 was really bad. 92 I was sad and 96 it pissed me off after that, not so much.

The Dawgs have been relatively good yet inconsistant so yeah I have to take the good with the bad.

I got really excited about the Thrashers last year and they've been great so far.

I get pretty down after Longhorn football losses. The 5 year losing streak to OU was brutal.

I've found having kids has helped a bit because (1) I'm forced to improve my positively childish behavior in this regard and (2) it offers some perspective on what's important in life.

That and the national title last year help alot.

Spend a year in Phoenix and see what sports depression is. Even the Suns suck right now. Try being a Cardinals fan, I even amaze myself at why I'm still a fan. Good players just bad coaching and ownership.

Well, Marshall football had 20 straight winning seasons, been in 4 DI-AA championships (won 2), won 5 of 6 bowls, 2 Heisman finalists (3 if Leftwich didn't get hurt), and was the winningest D1 team of the the 90s. Since I've been here, though, they have been a total 14-18, and the winningest coach in school history decides to suddenly retire my freshman year. :x It doesn't seem fair sometimes.

I find myself thinking about how the dolphins threw away thing season alot. Just if they would have signed brees instead of trading for culpepper, and drafting someone other than jason allen with their first pick, i could see this team beingl as good as they were anticipated to be.

How has Allen been this season, by the way?

He's only played in the last two games, and just sparingly. He had a fairly athletic pick against the bears, but wasnt from good coverage it was just a bad throw from grossman.

I used to take it much more serious, throwing lawn furniture around the back yard when Blair Thomas fumbled on MNF against the Bears and so many other things. I think like Tubbs said, you get older and have so many other things to worry about, but boy are Mondays so much better when the Jets win!

Watching the Astros get swept in the WS was like somebody placing a pillow over my face and slowly suffocating me. That had to have been the pinnacle of me being too emotionally invested in a team.
