(The Who) show is at the old Seattle Coliseum. I first came here in 1980, to shoot Styx and The Babys for Sounds magazine. Roger Waters is at the show backstage, with bodyguards. I didn't even bother trying to get a photo. Shoot the band walking to the stage. Pete's guitar didn't work for nearly the whole of the first song. He then played with intent and looked like he was enjoying himself, even smiling at me - something must be wrong. Got a good jumping shot at the end of Who Are You - the set's the same as New York.

We all go for a drink at the W Hotel bar after the show, that is, everyone except Pete and Roger.

October 12
I end up in the early hours telling Eddie Vedder what a bunch of cunts the people that work for him are, and it's true. It would be easier dealing with Madonna's management. He defends them by saying he'll always do stuff with me, but that's not the point. The whole entourage around them are wankers and heavy-handed.

I wake up hungover, feeling a bit guilty for having a go at him (he took it very nicely), but fuck it, everything I said was true.

I was supposed to get an email about The Who from Eddie Vedder for Mojo last night. And guess what? I 've got nothing - I'm going to stick to my real friends like Jon Bon Jovi.

And I hear I'm not doing Aerosmith in LA next month, after it was agreed all round and etched in stone. They must be friends with Eddie

I like this guy, how many people do you know who meets tons of famous people and just dogs every one of them. He is not kissing their ass like you would think most photographers would do to get repeat business. I don't know any of his work nor do I care to, I just like how he doesn't give a shit.

You can be pissy because he dares to be negative if you want, but 1. he took some awesome pictures of the band.

on both the PJ and soundgarden pages, ross halfin seems like a complete whiner. his observations are insightful and i'm sure he was doing all he can for his own artwork, but then again, i imagine both of those bands were also doing the same. i dig the fact that every doesn't always get along and that certain people can be difficult. that's life.

regarding PJ's crew, i've never had a bad experience in the dozen times i've seen them live and the few times i've ever spoken with a crew member. they've always been professional, kind and considerate, answering all questions politely to the best of their knowledge. sucks some other people have different opinions...
