i am contimplating switching from azureus to utorrent...anyone have any such experiences? my main questions are...

1. can i take the torrents i downloaded in azureus with me to utorrent for upload to help out my ratio...

2. where can i find my ratio on utorrent? azureus had it along the bottom of the program...is it somewhere on utorrent?

3. can they run at the same time?

Although your ratio is recorded by Azureus, it's really just calculating the tracking the amount of data that has transferred through the program and has absolutely nothing to do with your ratio on the torrent sites.
For example if you had a 2.0 ratio at oink today, and you switched to utorrent, you would still have a 2.0 ratio at oink tomorrow. They track those stats on their own. However, if you had a 2.0 on your internal Azureus tracker, i doubt that info would show up on utorrent.

I switched about six months ago and would never go back to Azureus again. I can recommend uTorrent with 100% conviction.

You ratio is recorded on the site, not in your Bit Torrent client.

It's really easy to transfer the torrents. I can't remember how to do it, though

Hahaha.

But, seriously. I remember it taking me like 5 minutes to figure it out. Just install uTorrent and fuck with it a little and you'll get it. It is so much better of a program than Auzureus.

There is one problem I've had with uTorrent. If I leave it running for too long, it inevitably reboots my machine over some sort of device driver error. No other torrent program has ever done this to me, but uTorrent does it all the time. Kind of fucks with my ratios when my machine turns off in the middle of teh night while i'm seeding.

My only caution with this program, but I don't know anyone else that this happens to.

that has not happened to me yet (knocking on my wooden desk.) the reason i asked (and it may be a dumb question) is that when you click on the general information tab at the bottom of the screen it will show the downloaded bar at 100% (full blue) and the availibility bar at 1.00 (full blue) with no leachers...does that mean it is done seeding and can't go any further or that there just isn't a leacher out there looking for it at that time. i'm not sure...this is all relatively new to me...

That just means that there is nobody grabbing the torrent from you. You can seed indifinitely, but most times a tracker will remove a torrent if it hasn't seen any activity in a while. In theory though you could seed a torrent forever.

Never happened to me, and I've left it going for days on end.

Your PC is infected with gremlins.

It's so much more streamlined. It basically does everything for you. Just try it. I would be shocked if you decided to stay with azureus after using it.

For me, the biggest bonus is much smaller memory usage in uTorrent. I'd been using Azureus for about a year before I switched and I'd recommend giong to utorrent in a heartbeat.

seriously, utorrent has all the functionality of azerus, and has a faaaar smaller memory footprint. Vastly superior on memory usage alone. Az is a hog.

Ok, thanks for the answers. But I just checked and sadly uTorrent is not available for Mac OS, so I'll stick with Azureus

i am relatively new to this whole "scene." i used azureus for about two days and switched to utorrent and it is so much easier to work with...never seems like there is a problem either...with azureus i was constantly getting firewalled here and there...was more of a headache...

question about utorrent...

currently most of my upload/seeding arrows (that are normally green) are red. how do i get them back to green? b/c they are red does that mean it is not tracking my uploads? this happening to anyone else?

Oink right?

it's because of the none ratio affecting download week :) the tracker is overloaded.

just keep your thing open, it should work soon enough.

If it's not oink....i dunno....might wanna restart or something.
