very sad. At his best, he was possibly the best director since you-know-who.

What's everyone's favorite Altman flick? I liked the Player.
i loved the player, but i think short cuts is pretty much an exercise in excellence

I haven't seen A Prairie Home Companion yet, but after hearing about the Departed, I dreamed of having Scorcese and Altman both be nominated for Best DIrector in the same year. It's sad to hear that he died, but I'm glad he got the Oscar that he did last year. R.I.P.
The football scene in MASH is one of the funniest scenes in any movie I've ever seen.

I just saw my first Altman film (Short Cuts) about a week ago, and I loved it. I put a shitload of his films in my Netflix queue, so I'll have to pay tribute in the coming weeks. I'm sad that I'll never have a chance to work with him, apparently he was pretty much the most actor-friendly director in history.
Rest in peace.
