my computer has a dvd burner but it won't let me burn dvds. do I need some special software too?
yes, i'm sure this is a stupid question, but whatever. why would they load my system with every software under the sun, advertise the dvd burner and not include that software?

Are you trying to burn dvd's through nero as well? if so it could be something as simple as using a disc that your dvd drive can't recognize (-R or +R for example). There is a way to check those stats through Nero and i'll try to look for it when i get home unless someone else can find it first.
Oh and error messages/error codes are helpful too .
