Once the tracklist is made public, I'll post it here. Until then, more info has surfaced:
The long-awaited Nirvana box set 'WITH THE LIGHTS OUT' will feature 68 previously unreleased recordings.
Released on November 22, the four-disc set will feature 81 tracks including 68 previously unreleased recordings - rehearsals, outtakes, Kurt's home demos, as well as a DVD which is confirmed to have unreleased band home movies, live footage, rehearsal footage and 20 full-length video performances. A 60-page booklet will accompany the release.
The title is a reference to a lyric in 'Smells Like Teen Spirit'.
A source told NME.COM: “I’ve seen some of the footage and it’s amazing stuff. There’s a video of them performing at a friend's party with Kurt reading lyrics off a sheet of paper on the wall, footage of them covering 'Seasons In The Sun' in a studio with Kurt on drums and lots of other great stuff.â€

Expensive. I'm glad my brother's buying it and not me.

I've "pre-ordered" and cancelled my pre-order TWICE for the boxed set now - I'm torn between wanting to hear the music but not wanting to vote "yes" on the capitalization of Kurt's death with my wallet by the release of stuff over which he has had no say.

It's not like Kurt is being exploited. Krist and Dave are the ones pretty much responsible for picking out what to include. This isn't like Courtney is just throwing it out there to make money. If that were the case, we'd have a had a shitload of unreleased Nirvana stuff made public already. I refuse to read Kurt's journals because he obviously didn't want that made public and Courtney knew she could make money off of it. I will be buying this set though.
I think Frances gets all of Kurt's royalties when she turns 18 anyway.

It doesn't really matter to me if Dave and Krist picked the stuff, or if Courtney had any say, I just feel like since he isn't hear to "say", maybe its not right, regardless. I dunno. I'll probably buy it. I didn't buy the journals either, for the same reason; I totally agree with you on that one. And Hopefully Courtney won't have spent it all by then...restated, I hope there is something left for Frances to "have" when all is said and done.

Rehearsals, outtakes, home demos?
Doesn't really seem worth it.
Thanks for the info Styrofoam but...

Why doesn't it? I'm sure they'll be excellent quality.
I guess I'm just not as die-hard a Nirvana fan as some here -- who will, no doubt, enjoy this immensely. Until more info surfaces as to what other tracks will appear, this is a pass.

Did anyone confirm whether or not the DVD was from the same show that 'First Live Show' is from? I remember seeing it described as being shot at a 'party' which is where 'First Live Show' was recorded.

I seriously doubt that'll be on the dvd. It'll most likely be that Halloween show from '91.

Isn't that a rather common show? One would assume they would want to give you stuff you've never seen, because otherwise you can just trade for it. Remember, the Nirvana bootleg market is HUGE.
