Why seated ???

They did the reading festival and a tour of south america which wasnt seated.

So you can trust 30000 people in rio and 40000 at a festival in Uk. But can not trust 10000 adelaide people.

Am I wrong to be offended by this ????

Im not offended. Personally its better with seats because you can enjoy it more and easier. I dont know why they have seats in some places and not in others.

I'm going to guess that it would be physically impossible to seat the Reading festival (plus, it isn't pearl jam's call at that kind of a gig) and that there weren't enough chairs in any of the towns they played in SA to fill a venue.

I agree about it being easier and why would you be offeneded?? your not always jostling for position, and you can enjoy the show without drunk mongoloids elbowing you in the back and the back of the head every 10 seconds, if i go to a slayer concert i dont want seats on the floor i wanna bash heads but pearl jam i wanna enjoy it and soak it up, as for why uhhh its just the venue and the promoter i believe....

also i know people who in europe queued up at the venue at 6am so they could be first row, with seats you can take your time gettin there and if youre travelling you can actually see some of whatever city you are in ....

i much enjoy the seating, you have your spot to be and dont have to worry about where you might end up, and you can listen and watch instead of worrying weather someone would be droping on your head or if you were going to be in the middle of a mosh pit.
i go to PJ to enjoy the show and maybe jump around a bit, and its much easier with assigned seating

I wouldn't trust 10,000 Adelaidians not to crush my skull, no.

Did you go to the '98 show in Adelaide? If so, you might understand. Most insane and violent pit I've ever, ever been in.

Getting rid of general admission where possible is one of the best things PJ ever did, at least pussies like me don't have to hang at the back of the room anymore.

I don't understand why some unwashed, dreadlocked, sweaty ball of body odour slamming against you for two hours would actually increase your enjoyment of seeing a show.

And anyway, ROSKILDE. 'Nuff said.

Seating is faaaaaaaaaaaaaar better. The crowd at Velvet Revolver confirmed this for me, what a fuckin horrible night.

Seating is more comfortable not that u have to sit.....
But having space around ya to move
I stood for the 4 seated concerts I attended....
Its much safer there is nothing worse when there is a crowd surge and u get shoved..

Exactly, just because the venue is seated doesn't mean you have to sit like it's an opera. I didn't sit for a moment of either Adelaide 1 or 2 and had a blast.

Yup. And 'seated' doesn't mean you remain seated, it just means it keeps people from being squeezed together in a mad crush. I've never sat down at a seated concert, even after the cries of 'sit down please' at the Arctic Monkeys concert in July. There's no fun to be had in that!

Seriously, what goes on in Te Awamutu, should stay in Te Awamutu. We could start a petition for them to play there. What is the lowest crowd figure Pearl Jam have played to since they were big?

J.

One of my best PJ memories was crowd surfing at an outdoor show in Portland in 1993! It was the best, but I was just a kid then.

I now perfer seats at a pj show as I grow(n) closer to 30. Not to say I feel old...rock and roll keeps you young!

I wouldn't mind jumping in a pit for old times sake though...oh the moshpit memories!
