Yo Everyone

I’m studying Communication Studies and therefore i have to do a piece of coursework analyzing communication.

I have to analyze a character or group doing a skill. Let me give you an explanation for a better understand.

Someone in a previous year has done - How does Aragorn show leadership in Lord of the Rings trilogy. The skill here is Leadership.

I have come up with ' How does the band Pearl Jam motivate the crowd in live shows? ' - skill being motivation.

Anyone if anyone can think of any other titles that would be great. But My main aim is just tell me things that pj do to interact with the crowd that would be great. I will then class them with technical words etc :)

Any show dates would be great as after i have to do a presentation with examples. So it gives me time to chase up the dvds. I dont have to hand in the final draft and do the presentation till may but its good to start early ;p

thank you all

peace

Ed

it was funny when my teacher asked - ''Do you have a DVD of a concert of Pearl Jam'' I said yeh around 80 at least and 300 + audio. he was a bit stunned ;p

Do pearl jam & videos
How the band does not want to cloud or taint the personal "meaning" of a song with a video

or something

Okay ... if you stick with your idea

Mike bounces and looks to see who bounces with him (who is in his grove) then acknoledges them with a smile , a knowing nod or "picks" you

Ed peeks in on peoples groves as well. Like bending down and smiling when you are under the safety of the brim of your hat

ed also will call for tee shirts from people who bring tee shirts to the show ...generally he will look at the shirt and put it over his shoulder or throw it aside but...but sometimes he doesn't even look at the shirt and sticks it down the back of his pants .. then the boys from security will go and pull/invite that person(usually female) backstage so ed can have sexytime with her mouth
very nice

example of ed acknowledgement at a rolling stone show ..finding jamily amongst throngs ...most blatant at 2:40 in video..... watch the whole thing "english boy"

there was an article on twofeetthick a few months ago about the hand gestures and stuff like that at the crowds that could be helpful.

everyone always pops too for the subtle lyric changes that reference the fact that they are at a place or a show

Love boat captain--let the show begin from let the games begin, etc

I would give this assignment an F if I was the teacher.

What exactly is Pearl Jam "motivating" the crowd to do? Motivation is generally the act of providing incentive to others to move them towards taking a particular action themselves or achieving a goal. So again, my question is motivating them to do what???

this is a question of degree--most people are at a show because they want to be there, but the crowds at a PJ show tend to be pretty intense, and looking to see what the role the band plays in that happening is seems fair.

The Lord Of The Rings is not a trilogy. It's one book released in three parts for practical reasons. There was a lack of paper in post war europe.
It shoud not be viewed as a trilogy, but as one piece.
