I swear, this has got to be one of the most beautiful things I've heard Eddie sing. Wish I could've been there, but it's phenomenal that we have a great recording of it. Not perfect, but damn near and the passion puts it over the edge. Amazing, just amazing.

Be blessed,

Jared

I'm listening to this music in repeat and it's just so perfect.. I don't think they'll play it anywhere else besides hawaii but i'd sure like to hear it live..

I have no idea what Hawaii '78 is. I guess I need to check the Pearl Jam forums on the Pearl Jam forum more often.

This is tremendous. That must've really been something in person.

It occurs to me that this is how Man of the Hour should sound.

I was lucky enough to go to the Dec. 2nd show. Ed started by asking for a moment of prayer and then started chanting in Hawaiian as the guitars came in slowly. The locals immediately recognized and went nuts but it was lost on me. Ed then then started singing in English as the instrumentals built up.
It struck me as a beautiful song; their verison a musical mix between I Am Mine and Man of the Hour. I couldn't make out most of the words but knew it's theme was one of destroying paradise and commercializing what's left while calling it progress. Which is a valid sentiment among many islanders.
Maybe with the chant at the start and ending it recalls Arc but it's a song that only resonates with that kind of passion in Hawaii.
