Jim Lee (Septembre/Mindwire/My Wave) Benefit concert @ the Agincourt, Camberley, Surrey on Sunday December 17th. 5 bands: Septembre (+ guest members of VEX RED), Redwood, Mindwire, Hip Slinky & Baby Driver.

Aldershot News (Surrey Advertiser) Article

A BENEFIT concert is to be held for a local musician who suffered significant brain trauma while on holiday in Spain this summer.
James Lee, 27, has been involved in the local music scene for years and
recently toured with former Kula Shaker front man Crispian Mills.
However, his world was turned upside down on September 23 this year
when he was involved in a serious accident in Torrevieja.
James, who plays bass, was hit by a car while crossing the road and was
taken by air ambulance to Alicante General Hospital where he spent
several weeks in intensive care. Fortunately no bones were broken and his
spine and neck were intact.
He returned home on October 28 and is currently receiving treatment at
the Royal Surrey Hospital in Guildford. Although he is improving
steadily, it could be some time before he makes a full recovery.
Laura Moor, who is organising the concert, said: "People who have only
met James once are giving up their time for this concert. We've got
photographers and fire staff working for free and so far there's been a
really good response."
All proceeds from the show will go to James and his family and his twin
brother Rich is confident that word of mouth will bring a good turnout.
"The money will be a great help when he comes out of treatment. It'll
help him get back on his feet again," he said.
The concert will see the reforming of two of James' former bands,
Septembre and Mindwire as well as the reunion of local favourites, Redwood.
Septembre will be fronted by former Vex Red member Terry Abbott with
the possibility of some very special guests on the night.
Other bands set to perform include Hip Slinky and Baby Driver.
The bands are contributing to a CD to mark the concert and Mindwire
will be releasing a 'best of' album.
Long-time friend and fan David Lapage said it was great that so many
people were showing their appreciation for James.
"He was an integral part of Mindwire," he said. "He wrote a lot of the
lyrics and melodies. This concert is a very worthy cause."
The concert will be held at the Agincourt in Camberley on December 17
at 6pm. Advance tickets are £8 from the Rock Box in Camberley or £10 on the door. By Dan FitzHarris, Aldershot News
