is it a specific folder? what kind if folder is it? how's it called? what services/ autostarts did you find in your msconfig? is it in your start->programs->autostart? can you try to str+x and str+v the folder somewhere else?

i'm 100% sure that they're all installable's and none are linked to anything else (i have another folder called "Apps in use" for that.

See if the folder somehow made it's way into your startup folder, and delete the shortcut if necessary:

Win9x/98/Me - C:\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\StartUp

WinNT/2K - C:\Winnt\Profiles\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\StartUp

WinXP - C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

i had checked that too and it wasn't.

i restarted again last night and the folder didn't come up, which is good however now i want to rename the folder and i can't because its says its in use :| I know for almost 99% sure it isn't though....

If it's not in the startup folder, not in the msconfig startup refrences, then it might be something goofed into the registry. If possible, try moving all the folders contents to another folder. Then delete that original folder altogether, and then reboot the system. After it finishes booting, rename the new folder to the old folders name. That *usually* clears the problem if it's a registry goof.
