im not against any sport really, i just dont think any sport is even close to american football. i respect soccer players (thats right i called it soccer) as athletes, but i dont think it compares to football. football is more of a team sport and is more physically demanding. im not saying soccer players arent in great shape, but conditioning is much more important than strength in soccer, where as in football they are just about equal. plus football is more violent in nature, and violence is fun and entertaining

for the sake of not getting confused its probably better to use soccer for Euro.SA football.

b/c it takes 11 people for a play to work. all of the players on the field have to be on the same page or the play wont work, on offense or defense. i dont know much about soccer, but i would think the goalie and whoever the fuck plays right infront of the goalie isnt doing much on offense

soccer is very much a team sport.

whenever someone of your team gets a red card (sent off) you rarely see that you start playing any better. You need 11 men (women) to reach the goal, literally.

basically there are 4 types of players on the pitch.
1. goalie, main objective; keep clean sheet
2. defenders, main objective; prevent attackers from other team to break trough.
3. midfielders, main objective; these are essential for both defense and attack. you have defensive midfielders whom mainly assist the defence but are also key in providing the ball to the attacking midfielders or attackers. attacking midfielders are the most creative of the bunch. their objective is mainly to provide perfect balls for the attackers to score, or go for an individual action and try to score themselves.
4. attackers, main objective; score goals, and keep the ball going. never lose the ball because that would put extra pressure on midfield and defense. and ultimately the goalie.

so you have 1 goalie
between 3 - 5 defenders
between 2 - 5 midfielders
between 1- 4 attackers

as long as the total is 11.

they are all essential to each other.

The reason I like American Football the best is because it is truly the definition of teamwork. I mean, on every play, there are 7 or 8 guys on offense doing nothing but putting their body in harm's way with no chance of ever touching the football or scoring any points. An offensive tackle's only job is to use his body to physically maul a defender so one of his teammates can try to score a TD and get the glory.

Also, the physical demands the sport requires are amazing. Most of the defensive players have to be quick, fast, strong and tough.

Plus, the game itself is so complicated and intricate. There are a lot of rules, but the main reason it is complicated is because of all of the strategy. There are a bunches of different pass coverages and audibles and plays being called, and a lot of it is changed on the fly at the line of scrimmage.

For some people it is. For me it isn't. I've never been a fan of boxing, rugby, ...

And about the physical powers: I've always most admired the naturally gifted players. Cristiano Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Messi, ... they don't need physical power. They don't need to be big and rough and looking like fucking robots full of hormones. They do tricks, show their talent, ...

i do, i much rather watch some technical spectacle then a bunch of guys running into each other. just not my thing.

angus i watched that whole video...almost. very impressive, im sure it takes years of practice to handle a ball like that. but to me, that equates more to someone juggling knives or something.

I don't think I'm really "against" either one of them, to be honest. I just prefer watching football (or "soccer", a term I refuse to use)

i would say watching american football is more entertaining that watching a guy juggle a knife...unless he dropped the knife and it went through his eye or something

this is no way meant to be offensive, but i find that when it comes to sports, americans are all about power and strength, where as in europe its more about finesse and athleticism.

i think strength is part of being athletic

American Football fans seem to appreciate the hard work and effort that the team displays while trying to reach the ultimate goal of the game: winning.

European Football fans seem to appreciate the skill and talent of the players as they try to score goals and do tricks with the ball. I'm sure these players want to win, too, but when I watch these guys play, I'm seeing (as an American) a lot of standing around and walking and not a lot of effort.

tactics is another thing that's huge in soccer.

you don't have to be on the run all the time.

when the rightside defender thinks he has a shot of breaking through the opponents defense, the rightmidfielder takes of his spot. stuff like that.

you don't really see that in Football. there's one guy throwing, and a bunch of guys running.

i think blocking assingments in football are more tactical than anything in soccer
