The Al Gore thread got me thinking: We all have personal predjudices (I don't like Al Gore and therefore will most likely never listen to a thing he has to say). Is this attitude wrong? Isn't it stopping me from possibly learning something or developing some new insight? Of course it is. Still, I know I'll never respond to Michael Moore with anything but an eyeroll and Sean Hannity will never ever be of any value to me other than laughs.

What are some of your personal predjudices?
Closet Republicans.

So you hate yourself?
Truly, I hate all politicans. I can't think of any group more self-serving than the bunch of lying bastards we've elected. But that doesn't mean I won't at least listen to some of them. However, when Hillary speaks I seriously want to stab my eardrums with a pencil just to stop the noise. When Cheney comes on TV, I feel the need to cover my eyes like I'm watching a horror movie. More personal predjudices...
are we talking just as far as politicians or everyone?
Everyone that you block out just because you can't stomach them. Well, everyone but me, so I guess now you'll have nothing to post
people in general
i seriously have a hard time with smokers. its not that i ignore them or spit on them or anything, but if i see a gal and think wow, shes hot, and then i see her smoking, im just like meh.....
i don't know how to put this without sounding like a heartless cad, but i have a very difficult time with obese people who blame everything but themselves for their weight problem, then go on to get gastric bypass surgeries because "it is the only way to lose weight".
i know there is a small percentage of overweight people who do need surgical intervention, but the people who just don't try are making it very difficult for those who really do need the help.

Ssshhh... don't tell anyone I believe in free markets.
Some politicians are bearable. I used to be a big fan of Tony Blair, but my faith in him has eroded over the years. Rapidly. I used to like McCain a lot, but lately he's been giving me the shits too.
Prejudices? I'll more or less not listen to anyone who expresses insanely loaded opinions even if I sympathize with aspects of what they're saying. eg. Ardent supporters of the Iraq war who still think it had something to do with 9/11. Any opinions on science/morality/law expressed by people who've only ever read the Bible.

Honestly, sometimes you HAVE to have that prejudice against politicians. Even if their drivel might sound reasonable at some point, how do you know he's not being put up to it by somebody with a large pocketbook? You don't. Everybody wants a piece of the pie, everybody wants the politicians to support their cause, and the politicians are going to listen to whoever offers the most money, not who does the best and most scientific research. Call me cynical, but there is but a small handful of politicians who have even a thread of honor and integrity. The only one I can even think of who actually resists the lobby is Jeff Flake (I have witness from an actual lobbyist that he doesn't work with them the way other politicians do).

j/k................................ for the most part.
This is gonna sound dumb but for the life of me I can't tell whether people are more stubborn or more flexible in their views these days. It's as if some people are uber flexible and open while others are entirely rigid and closed off from other's opinions.

I have a very difficult time taking seriously anyone who wears their religion on their sleeve. You know, if someone says, "Have a blessed day," or something else that is overtly, and unnecessarily religious in tone to me, I will think that the person is probably very nice and sweet, but I'm gonna have a real hard time taking anything else they say seriously.
I mean, I really could not care less that you've found God in your life. Good for you, but it doesn't affect me in the least. In fact, the only way it DOES affect me is when you decide that it's important that you tell me about it, and then it affects me negatively. So keep it to yourself, eh?
