I haven't met many pretentious fans at all, at least in this era of the band. When they were huge in the mid-90's, I found a lot of asshole fans (though to be fair, they were younger fans back then).

Hey Frank.
They were only huge here for about a couple years, then they faded into obscurity. They totally ignored Europe for 6 years, and paid the price. Not one of their last three singles charted here. Even "I am mine" charted.
I think they're on the way out, I hope I'm proved wrong.
I met a few guys of the "ATA" thread and they were decent people. I'm meaning as a whole, do you think PJ fans are just a wee bit, well, overbearing?

Yeah, kind of. you know the way Radiohead fans can't see by them, well are PJ fans the same?
I see. I would say for the most part no, but there will always be exceptions. For example I listen to lots of other stuff besides Pearl Jam (not to prove I'm hip, just because I like a variety), but a few of my friends listen to nothing but Pearl Jam. You'll always find a studio album or live show in their CD player. I find it to be a bit odd, but hey...those could be Creed albums they're obsessed with instead.

That's true. I've gone off PJ a bit recently. I don't know why, I guess I'm bored with them. Not a good sign.

PJ fans I've met on the road seem pretty dead on and non-pretentious. On the internet, however...
Actually, I haven't seen too many pretentious PJ fans on the net. It's those who join a PJ messageboard and knock the band are the ones that are annoying. And those who adopt a too kool attitude.

obsessive sure--pretentious not as much
and there are probably more asshole PJ fans than radiohead fans. But that is not an educated guess
