Whether he's hitting a back-breaking grand slam onto the Mass Pike or almost missing a fly out to left because he's busy taking a wiz behing the Monster, I can assure everyone that there's no one more fun to follow in sports. He should be cloned.

I loved him, hated him, and I'm starting to love him again...even if I'm still annoyed about him getting picked off first by Javy Lopez in the World Series.

He's the best pure hitter I have ever seen in person. Also gets way too much crap from the home town media.

He was breast fed until he was 4.... clearly he's a little bit behind MOST of us here. But that does not take away from the fact that he hits the shit out of the ball; and despite popular thought he has a VERY GOOD arm. Thus saving more runs then he gives up on the occasional bonehead move.

should I even bother asking for evidence to back that up?
I'll give you one guess why Manny gets as many assists as he does....

I ask for you to provide evidence the other way around.... it's not possible either way. I'm guessing you don't watch every game... hence you only see the bumbled plays on the highlights.

If you are gonna say a short porch in left... sure I guess that plays a part in assists. But if you think playing the wall makes a LF's job easy at fenway you are wrong sir. Give and take.... I have seen a few others over the years play left field at fenway (away teams included), it's not too pretty.

nah, usually the burden of proof falls on the person who makes the initial assertion. And yes, it IS possible to prove it. Not sure if you're aware...but they have these crazy new things called STATISTICS that provide a pretty good idea of how effective a player is on defense. You should look into them.

Did I say that? My point was that his arm seems better than it really is because he's making most of his throws from a shorter distance.

wow...visting LF's have trouble? Shocking....

I’d call Manny an average outfielder at home in Fenway, below average in normal sized leftfields on the road. Nowadays he's probably my favorite player on the team.

well if you did a simple STATISTICAL analysis you would see since being with the red sox there have been less errors then assists. so if you are going to go simply by stats then i guess i would be right....

nope, you'd still be wrong because nobody with half a brain uses errors to measure defensive perofrmance. But since you think his arm makes up for his lack of range....I guess I shouldn't have expected much.

He ranks DEAD LAST for all MLB LF's when it comes to RF and ZR.
