It seems like a lot of people, even if they're environmentally inclined, don't have much respect for Greenpeace. Some may even go so far as to say association with GP does more harm to a cause than good because of the negativity surrounding them.
So what do you think? Do you respect Greenpeace?

i used to have a bunch of greenpeace sweatshirts as a little kid. things like "save the manatees," and dolphins with the caption "i'm too cute to die."
i don't really know much about them though. all i hear, though, are negative things. maybe i should investigate a bit.

They're not THAT radical, like PETA is. Hell, a bunch of guys broke away from GP because they wanted to poke a few holes in some Japanese whaling vessels and GP wouldn't have anything to do with it.

Greenpeace and PETA, though their tactics might seem extreme, bring press coverage to wrong-doings that would otherwise go unoticed. I have utmost respect for both organizations, despite their criticism.

Their campaign against GM foods is kind of silly(interestingly, the left is on the wrong side of science on this issue.)
It gets murkier when you split it up into campaigns. Some of them are silly, you're right, but many are not.
I disagree with the blanket insinuation that the left as a whole is anti GM food.
Not everyone, certainly, probably not even a majority, but that's where most of the criticism comes from. It's certainly ironic that some on the left believe in "following science" when it comes to global warming, yet are so against gm crops.

To be fair, there's something to be said for being cautious and following a precautionary principle approach when it comes to GM crops. Especially given the risk to the gene pool of wild species. There's some sound science to that.
