Fatal stabbing at Lincoln-Sudbury High School
January 19, 2007
SUDBURY, Mass. --An unidentified person was fatally stabbed at Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School on Friday morning, a hospital spokeswoman said.
The victim was brought to Emerson Hospital in Concord and pronounced dead at 8:12 a.m., said Bonnie Goldsmith, a hospital spokeswoman. Goldsmith would not say whether the victim was a student or a teacher.
State and local police were sent to the school. Corey Welford, a spokesman for Middlesex District Attorney Gerard Leone Jr., would not immediately provide additional details.
Mary Clemens, a 17-year-old senior, said that a friend called her Friday morning on her way to school to tell her the building had been locked down. When she arrived, she saw students gathered in the cafeteria.
"We were told by an administrator that someone was stabbed and it was bad, that that person was taken to the hospital and someone else had been taken to the police," Clemens said.
"It was shocking," she said. "You would never expect something like that to happen at our school, but I guess it can happen anywhere."
Former professional football player Fred Smerlas, who has a daughter at the school, told WHDH-TV that parents were told that there was an incident prior to school starting involving two students.
"There's probably about 100 parents congregating outside the school trying to get more information," he said.
Smerlas said parents were told that students were taken to the school gymnasium after the incident.
The school has about 1,600 students and is located about 17 miles west of Boston.
Jodie Greenhouse, whose 17-year-old daughter, Nicole, is a junior at the school, said her daughter told her the school was put in lockdown. Students were initially taken to the cafeteria and later to the gymnasium, she said.
"She called this morning to say, Mom, I'm fine,'" said Greenhouse.

For the record, this school is compromised of two of the wealthiest suburbs in Massachusetts. The old school was knocked down and a new building was built for $75 million. Most of our towns' tax money goes towards this.
Anyways, the school has always been peaceful. I just find it disturbing that this happened at a school I attended. Imagine your peaceful neighborhood disturbed by sudden violence.

Yeah it's pretty surreal when stuff like this happens. A year or two ago a couple of kids got busted planning a columbine style shootout (not at my old school, but at one a few blocks away). They had the guns and pipebombs and everything all ready to go. Anyways it never happened thankfully but you never expect that shit to happen in your backyard.

We didn't have any deaths related to shootings or something long those lines, but we had a couple suicides and a couple deaths caused by drunk driving. One drunk driving incident was very hard to get over.
High school: not the easiest of times.

But I'm glad cause they feed me the fuel that I need for the fire
to burn and it's burnin and I have returned
And I am, whatever you say I am.
If I wasn't then why would I say I am...
But anyway, not a big shocker at all. I'm in high school and we've had 3 deaths this year so far. The first one was this kid I knew named Nick who died of a drug OD. The second one was some kid who got shot in some gang deal or something. The third was a kid who drowned in the pool at the school after he snuck in.
