That doesn't stop every news station from discussing it over and over and over.....

Something about how freedom loving peoples must sometimes give up things like freedom to ensure the freedom of other freedom loving peoples in fledgling democracies. You know, how it's more important to secure the borders of Iraq than the borders of America. Then something about how great Ford was.

Yeah i know, it's just that all these previews are just hilarious and pathetic at the same time. I mean, we all know nothing new will be revealed or discussed.

I will come clean and say that I will not be watching this. I haven't watched any televised speech by President Bush in about 3 years, and I don't plan on watching any more. Even if I thought he might have something insightful to say, which he never does because he has no insight, only speechwriters, my internal bullshit detector just can't handle the pressure when I'm watching that man speak on TV.

Most politicians set my bullshit detector off, and it makes it quite uncomfortable to watch any of them, but Bush takes it to an entirely different level. Because I don’t believe he truly comprehends anything he says in his public appearances, EVERYTHING he says comes across as bullshit. Bullshit is found where a speaker does not believe the words he is speaking, and while many believe that Bush is deluded and actually believes his own bullshit, I do not. He cannot believe it, because he does not INTERNALIZE it. He does not fully understand what he is saying, and he is essentially reading words on a teleprompter for his dinner.

This will be a relatively short speech considering that bush will not recieve any Bob Barker applauses that take up half of the broadcast.

well said. i don't believe a word that comes out of his mouth and it enrages me to see him smirk and stutter.

i recently read that he gave a speech to some troops who are on their way to Iraq...he paused in certain places waiting for applause...which never came. i'd like to think that will happen tonite, but i'm sure he'll plant "applause people" so that that does not happen on nat'l TV.

It will be the second year in a row a Virginian has gave the Democratic response to Bush's State of the Union address. Last year it was Tim Kaine. :D

Well, I may be the only one but I'm very excited about hearing President Bush speak tonight.

Of course the speech hasn't been given yet, but one of the rumored highlights is a proposed tax cut for both individuals and families for healthcare (whether they pay for it on their own or their employer helps provide it). I don't know if that's the best idea, but it's a start in the right direction.

As for not receiving tons of applause...he wouldn't be the first President to be disrespected in that fashion.
