i just bought a new dell dimension pc and its coming with vista home premium. i've been reading the reviews and the word is that people should wait and continue and use xp. does anyone here have vista? what are you thoughts about it? how does it work with none-MS apps? i've heard vista is too reliant on IE, but i use firefox. any thoughts?

I'd wait about 6 mos. to a year before I installed Vista. There will be the inevitable glitches and bugs right off the bat. Might as well wait for the first Service Pack and they've ironed out any large issues.

We have had Vista for close to 6 months in our labs at work and it's pretty dang amazing. If you are gaming I would stick with XP for the heavily optimized video drivers, but for everything else Vista is the way to go.

i canceled my order b/c there was a bunch of mild reviews and the concern over the security gaps and bugs. it also messes with a lot of content protection when it comes to video and audio files, not to mention a CPU and memory drain.

i think you could have come up with a better example of that than a post about vista in a thread about vista.
