Anybody notice when Ed's sings some notes recently, especially on the VFC finale, his bottom jaw tend to roam back and forth? Is it for effect? Is it involuntary? What is that?

i noticed that after my road trip buddy (ames) brought it to my attention after the reading show.
in toledo and grand rapids and especially st louis it was really evident.
i kinda thought it might be becasue he was getting sick.
but then i noticed it again while watching and re-watching the vfc finale.
i dunno... maybe he's had some dental work done or his ears needed to pop from all the flying they had been doing?
or maybe its a reversion to the jaw-clenching we saw prior to the riot act tour?
most importantly, it didnt seem to affecet his voice.
at least not that i noticed

I think I know what you're talking about. On "Masters of War" from the VFC finale, Ed does this on "Is your money that good?" I think the way he gets "good" out there is what he intended.
He kind of did it on that song for Letterman too. So, so deep and maybe a tad sarcastic.
God bless,
Jared

Kurt Cobain used to do that also. Watch Nirvana's Unplugged he does it quite a bit in that performance. But this was the first that I've ever noticed Ed do it.

It's really not that big of deal, but I was wondering if I was the only one that noticed it. It is a weird thread, I guess my mind reflects on odd things at times.
This is a weird thread....but I did notice it a couple of times myself. I really could notice a difference in Ed's voice on the mini-tour. He's trying different things with his vocals on particular songs....his range is broader. Whatever it is...I like the change....he just keeps growing as a vocalist!
OK, weird thread or not, I NOTICED IT TOO. I was lucky enough to sit 2nd row or better for 4 shows and was wondering if he had always done this but I had never noticed because I am normally not that close. Even my husband said something about it. He was mocking him a bit to be honest. Heh.
Who knows. And to the person who mentioned the coke, I think a more likely response to that would be jaw clenching/grinding of teeth. So I seriously doubt it's that.
Sorry if we're interfering with the RM-ish-ness of this board. *shrug*

What color were his nails done? In SVT, they were done an appropriate pearl color. I love the beard. And I noticed the jaw thing. Not that I'm obsessed with Pearl Jam or anything. Nah, not me!
