I have an avi file that I'm trying to take a screen shot of. I played the file in windows media, divx and winamp, I'm using the shift-prt screen button, and when I paste it into Paint, the video part of the picture always has a blank screen.

I also tried dl'ing a few freeware programs to take screen shots, and it was the same thing.

Any ideas?
thanks
dan

download VLC media player.

Then while the video is playing, pause it if you'd like, click on the 'video' tab and select 'snapshot.'

Hope that helps.
