Quarterback tells newspaper he's encouraged by Packers' late-season run
The Associated Press
Updated: 12:03 p.m. CT Feb 2, 2007
GREEN BAY, Wis. - Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre told a newspaper in Mississippi that he will return for the 2007 NFL season.

In an exclusive interview with the Sun Herald in Biloxi, Miss., Favre said he’s excited to return to a team that has a nucleus of good young players.

He also said he was encouraged by the team’s 8-8 finish

i guess aaron rogers' won't be healed up in time for next year........ this is getting stupid, another season of commentators discussing whether brett likes his pancakes with lots of butter or not, or his eggs runny or not, or boxers or briefs, i hate brett farve talk, it sucks the life out of any game that is against brett farve, he could retire and the commentators would still talk about him playing against a team

I think the Packers will be in the playoff hunt easily come 2007. Most of it has nothing to do with Favre, though.

Packer fans are happy, as far as the ones I know.

I'm all for it. He's still better than half the quarterbacks in the league, at least.

They have a nice young D, and you have no idea what will happen between now and August.

The NFL is way too unpredictable to say a team is out of it before the prior season is even over, geesh.

I'm as surpised as i was when the sun came up today.

Favre (and Roger for that matter) is going to have to be carried off the field kicking and screaming.

I think the Packers will be a Wild Card team next year. Favre's still pretty damn good, why would he retire?

Could be, but I would guess Cleveland or someone trading up at five or six. That team could very well be Green Bay. I'd love it, because there is nobody else I'd rather watch trample over defenders in the snow. I think he'd be a great back in that shitty weather.

I'm fucking stoked.

If we can draft as well this year as we did last, we're going to the playoffs. Need a few good signings in free agency too, especially at WR.

Favre has stuck it out through the hell that was 2005. The fruits of rebuilding were already apparent midway through 2006... why the hell would he not stick around to make a go of it in 2007, especially when he's not really deteriorated in the last 2 years? Sure, he's not the QB he was 5 years ago, but if Sexy can get to the Super Bowl...

Anyways. I think this pretty much spells the end for Aaron Rodgers at the Packers. If I was him, I'd be looking at other options, but the question is, where's he going to get a start? Who'd take a risk on him now?

Yes! I get to bet against Favre every week again this year! When was his last good year anyway? 1999?

As much shit as Manning gets for his playoff ineptness, Favre should get even more. He has made some of the most horrendus throws i've ever seen in recent playoff games. I'd like to see his playoff stats in the past 7 years or so in the post-season(which he rarely even makes anymore).
