IMO, 1996 and 2000 couldn't hold a candle to every other tour (maybe Japan/Australia 1995). While there were many great shows, each of those tours as a whole wasn't as successful as others. I'm sure there are many people that can agree on this.

So...which one was worse?

I saw PJ in 98, 00, 03, 04, 05 & 06, and 2000 was the best of my limited experience (1-3 shows per). So, err, maybe I shouldnt answer this question.

1996 was awesome. The US tour was very small but I have never met a person who went to a 96 show that did not love their experience. Merriweather, Randall's Island and Hartford all stand out as classics.

I rank 2000 very low. There was a real bleakness to the US legs. You can really see that in the 2B2K dvd. I saw a bunch of 2000 shows and while some were great (e.g. the Seattle shows), the tour overall just lacked something.

How are we measuring the quality of each tour?

2000 is worse.

1996 is one of their best tours ever.

2003 is their worst tour ever.

2006 was great.

These are facts as Spenno sees them.

Everything that makes a PJ tour something to remember: consistency, surprises, energy, setlists, etc.

96 has to be graded down just because it was so short and visited so few parts of the US. They did get to Europe, though.

all three shows I saw in 2000 felt really flat, and i loved the show I was at and most of the boots I've heard from 96, so 2000 gets my vote

I listen to more 2000 boots than 96 boots. So 2000 gets my vote for a better leg.

It's hard to rank the '00 tour but I would put it ahead of the '96 tour based soley on the excellent European shows.

hard to say because the boots from 96 on the whole just don't do it justice like the 00's do. the last 5 US shows of 2000 are one of the best runs though, imo.
