Recall in the early '90s, when Pearl Jam became way too famous way too quickly, and Eddie Vedder turned introspective, condemning, in a sense, the very fans who made Pearl Jam huge. Plenty of listeners were turned off. In Pearl Jam's case, however, this was a good thing and scaled back the group's following to a manageable level, allowing Vedder to remain sane and the band to pursue much more interesting and incisive music.

case. closed.

That's a great perspective and honestly for the greater part is true. if they had not scaled back I think the band would have divided.

For all you fuckers who don't like No Code, keep in mind that if the band didn't make that particular style of album they'd have probably broke up.

If any member of the band didn't take a crap once in a while, they would probably explode or die :|

I love both new and old PJ. Vs. and Vitalogy are what cemented my love for the band, and those are time-tested classics, but the new disc is stellar in its own way, too. As far as albums go, their self-titled could be their best yet.
