A full THE DOORS reunion could be possible this year if PEARL JAM star EDDIE VEDDER agrees to perform with the rock legends again. Vedder joined the three existing members of the group for shows and studio sessions a decade ago and drummer JOHN DENSMORE reveals he'd consider ending his stand-off with his bandmates if the ALIVE singer agreed to front them for 40th anniversary shows.

Densmore has been fighting with former Doors bandmates ROBBY KRIEGER and RAY MANZAREK ever since they launched THE DOORS OF THE 21ST CENTURY with THE CULT singer IAN ASTBURY, and even though the trio appeared together at a recent book signing event in Los Angeles, the drummer refused to be part of a planned performance at fabled Los Angeles venue the Whisky A Go Go. Densmore reveals he, Krieger and Manzarek are planning to host another book and poetry reading and signing event in England later this year, but he owes it to the memory of late bandmate JIM MORRISON to only perform with the perfect frontman.

Densmore says, "I play with Jim. If there's someone of that level, OK. I'm not gonna join them with Ian. That's not to diss Ian, he's a good singer - but he's no Jim Morrison. Eddie Vedder? My God, there's a singer." Asked if he'd perform with his bandmates if Vedder was on board for shows, the drummer adds, "Probably." But he admits lawsuits and legal issues that escalated after he forced his bandmates to drop the name The Doors of The 21st Century and adopt RIDERS ON THE STORM instead will always get in the way of a full reunion. He explains, "They've appealed my whim, but it's still a quiet celebration in my mind. I mean, it's gonna go on for another year - more lawyers... It's hard to be chummy with that going on."

I was 14 when I fell in love with the voice of jim morrison. Eddie's voice is leagues better. If he reunites the Doors. I'm so there.

While I don't care for D21C and my friends say it was by far the worst show they were ever at, I'd gobble up tix if Vedder was involved.

I saw Riders on the Storm recently and I can only agree. Nothing bad about Ian but he's no Jim or Ed. It's not even the voice, it's just the lack of impact of the man on stage.

groetjes,
Mirella :)

There is no doubt Ed has more range and ability to sing than Jim, bu they both write great lyrics and have the "it" factor". I would poop myself if that ever happened.

Yeah, come on, Robby Krieger played with Creed. These guys are just looking to make a few more bucks for their retirement. I wouldn't want to see Ed involved in it at all.

would never happen.

i bet Ed won't even get approached about it, that article is simply Robby stating who he'd tour as the Doors again with, if they could get him. nowhere does it even remotely indicate it being a possibility.

Ed would never agree to touring as The Doors, you can quote me on that.

I'd quote you on that.

I could see a tribute style show, but not a tour.

exactly.

and i don't even know that he'd do a tribute show, as he's already done the Doors thing, it went incredibly well and is highly regarded amongst PJ and Doors fans (most that i've seen talk about it anyway), why risk tarnishing that great moment?

i agree with this. i think a one-off tribute show would go well, but i'm not sure it could match the intensity of what they did at the HoF ceremony. i'd like to hear him sing 5 to 1 though.

ah, just noticed. what a diff 5-6 years makes :P

and fwiw, i find the Doors to be one of the most overrated American bands of the 60's & 70's...

few great songs, but certainly not even remotely on the level of the greats of that era (Zep, Stones, The Who, etc.)
