I've heard the track with Eddie...the Pink Floyd cover Shine on You Crazy Diamond and I think it's pretty damn cool. The drumming is instantly recognizable as Jack (a la Who You Are or In My Tree).

Anyway, it's not the kind of album you can just download easily, so I'd like to hear some comments/reviews from some people here before I buy it from the 10C.

I like it. But if your expecting something PJ-ish, you won't. It's percussion focussed.

That pretty much sums it up. And for the record, I really don't like SOYCD. Just doesn't sound proper to me.

That's what I like about it - the fact that they didn't just do it straight-up and try to replicate Floyd. Instead it's almost electronica-ish. If you're saying that the whole album has cool beats like Shine On, then I think it's worth it.

I don't have the album, but I do like SOYCD.

I have it and you can easily download it from me through Soulseek. But it's worth buying for that version of Shine on You Crazy Diamond alone!

groetjes,
Mirella :)

For those that like the SOYCD here, check out the version on Les Claypools 'Live Frogs Set 1' disc, as it is the "Jack Irons version" of the song. I believe this CD came out well before Jack's, even.

That album is one of the best Pearl Jam related releases, I can't understand why The Water song and Dunes with jeff and stone, or stone on steve turner doesn't get more notice and respect, but that second ones a different issue. Its well worth it i think.

i think it sucks. Its like listening to him do the same drum pattern over and over and over and over again, with kenny g fillin in the holes.

Maybe my tastes aren't eclectic (or eccentric, for that matter) enough, but I bought it, played it, and did my best to forget I ever heard it.

I love it. I listen to it to chill out and relax. I use it as background music on my radio show. I love the song Stone is on. SOYCD is great with Ed and Claypool.

Overall 9/10. Great side/solo project. It's better than Jimmy Chamberlin's solo effort, which I don't mind either....surprisingly.
