Brothers get 10 years for cooking puppy in oven
Atlanta teens killed dog, then threatened children if they told about it

Updated: 8:19 p.m. ET Feb 9, 2007

ATLANTA - Two teenage brothers each were sentenced to 10 years in prison for torturing a puppy by cooking it in an oven.

Joshua Moulder, 17, and Justin, 19, pleaded guilty in January to charges including burglary, criminal damage to property, terroristic threats and cruelty to children.

The brothers brought neighborhood children to see the dead puppy, then threatened to kill them if they reported it, prosecutors said.

Police said they found the dead mixed-breed puppy inside an oven at an apartment community center Aug. 21. Scratch marks were found inside the oven, indicating the puppy had been alive when it was placed inside, prosecutors said.

A necropsy on the 3-month-old dog found its paws and snout had been duct taped and it had been doused with paint before being placed in the oven, prosecutors said.

Authorities also found damaged computers, broken glass and splattered paint on the walls of the newly refurbished community center.

The brothers’ first trial ended in a mistrial in December. Their attorney, Timothy Owens, said he had hoped his clients’ sentencing would have focused more on rehabilitation than incarceration.

Can't we just pretend this sort of thing doesn't happen?

It's not good, but there are far more important things to worry about. You know, the 30,000 children that die from starvation each week. And the fact that the western governments don't feel inclined to help them out.

I choose to worry about the 30,000 starving children and animal abuse. I also choose to worry about getting out of debt and a whole slew of other stuff.

I'm so glad I have no debt...

You know what I think is funny. There was an article out yesterday about how half of India's children are malnurished. Yet, almost half the food aid here comes from India.

I have two dogs. But I won't lie, the use of the word "cooking" here, is quite humorous.

That is just heart-wrenching... but unfortunately, not uncommon... I have read/witnessed some horrific things related to the Humane Society & Amnesty International... in fact 2 young women from Pakistan (where mere cattle take precedence to women) in particular... literally burned/boiled alive... with no proper treatment available.. no local or general anesthetic... literally dying a slow death from the infection/pain...

I wonder why such evil people are even on the earth, it is unfathomable... it is too difficult for some, to just be a normal human being.

Poor dog.

If that happened to my dog, I'd be pulling those out as fast a possible. I wouldn't stop to take a photo.

I hope it focuses on skinning these fuckers alive on pay-per-view.

At 17 and 19, these two are more than old enough to know better. They're demented fucks and the world would be better without them.

Fuck them. I hope they rot in jail for the full 10 years.

And a lovely 10 years they would have, considering their ages.

Don't we have a psych major in the house? Doesn't this kind of behaviour suggest a propensity towards greater acts of violence towards people?
