Anybody watch last night's episode of Law and Order?

It was billed as the farewell for ADA Serena played by Elizabeth Rohm.

It was supposed to be a "special farewell".

**SPOILER***

for the last few weeks Serena has openly disagreed with Jack's tactics when trying cases. Last night she had a sit down with the DA and he fired her for her emotional tendencies, because she can't be a DA and get emotionally attached to her cases.

Serena responds to her firing by asking. "Is it because I am a lesbian?"

WTF? Where did that come from? Was this common knowlege? is this a special farewell?

I'm lost. :x

I can't believe this. I was watching Law & Order last night and flipped during commercial break and forgot to flip back!

I can't believe I missed that!

Quote:
Annie Parisse as Assistant District Attorney Alexandra Borgia
Annie Parisse (“National Treasure”) joins the esteemed cast of NBC’s Emmy-winning series “Law & Order” as the new Assistant District Attorney Alexandra Borgia. She debuts in the “Law & Order” episode “Fluency” on January 19, 2005.

“Annie is a terrific actress, and her new character (Alexandra Borgia) is an exotic beauty whose looks belie the fact that she is usually the smartest person in the room,” said Dick Wolf creator and executive producer of “Law & Order.”

Said Parisse: “I'm so excited to be a part of such a great show. I had so much fun when I did an episode several years ago and I'm really looking forward to working with everyone on a regular basis.”

Parisse guest-starred on “Law & Order” during the 2001-02 season and on NBC’s “Friends” in an episode broadcast last January. Her previous films include “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days” and “On the Q.T.” She currently stars as Agent Dawes in the blockbuster theatrical film “National Treasure,” starring Nicolas Cage, and in upcoming features such as “Prime” starring Meryl Streep and Uma Thurman as well as “Monster In Law” starring Jennifer Lopez and Jane Fonda.

Parisse also portrayed Julia Lindsey Snyder on the daytime drama “As the World Turns” from 1998-2001 and again in 2002. Her other primetime guest-starring credits include NBC’s “Third Watch” and “Big Apple.”

Parisse was born in Anchorage, Alaska. Her birthday is July 31.

Totally out of left field. I wasn't a big Serena fan but that was a weird way to go out.

It was completely random, and made absolutely NO sense within the context of the show.

one of the dumbest things I've ever seen on a TV show.

I thought it was stupid because they sort of explained why they were letting her go, there was no reason for her to bring up her sexual orientation other than for "shock value", which it wasn't. She was pretty weak on the show anyway.

It makes sense. Remember how pissed off she got that Jack McCoy wanted to nullify all gay marriages in NY in the November episode "Gov Love?" She didn't even try the case with him.

There was an earlier episode when she was telling a younger girl about a friend she had in college that had difficulty "coming out." She could have been referring to herself in the 3rd person.

I know the show hardly ever gets into personal lives, but the basics of all the other characters are established. She never mentioned a boyfriend or even going out on a date.

Pretending that these characters are real and not fictitional, my take is that she told Arthur and Jack sometime before the season started that she was a lesbian. For whatever reason, this helped contribute to the disharmony in the DA's office that has been evident all season. Arthur seemed to know she was gay already, so she must have told him at some point. When she was unexpectedly fired, her mind went to her most vulnerable issue: her sexuality.

If you knew you were insecure and needy in a relationship and your sig. other broke up with you, your first reaction might be to say, "Is it because I'm too needy?" You know the other person has a problem with your neediness and it's a sore spot for you, so you just assume you got dumped for that reason.

That's how I'm taking her revelation that she's a lesbian, otherwise it doesn't make much sense for her to say that to him.

SVU is da bomb diggity. Munch and Staebler are my favs. Dr. Wong wasn't on last episode! They brought it some chick shrink who I did not care for. Bring back Wong!

And

I will no longer watch regular L & O because Jerry Orbach is gone.

Are you a fan of Homicide: Life On The Street ?

Detective Munch was very good in that series.

Wong rocks... and stabler is the man... anyone think him and olivia will hook up after they ditch the "chick shrink" who stabler seems to be taking a liking to?... i dont think stabler and his wife will get back together, so that leaves the possibility open... best show on tv imo

Olivia seems too butch for Staebler. I think she needs a bigger badass guy like ICE T. And Staebler needs a little girly girl. What was the deal with the new lady anyway? Was she just a guest star or something? She was really involved in the episode so it seems like she's gonna become a regular. That worries me. I need Wong.

I've been busy lately and haven't caught the new episodes but saw the other day that his wife left him. Why did she leave? It kind of made me sad.

Yeah! Where the hell was Wong?

Has anyone else noticed that the woman that plays the current DA also played a criminal on SVU when the blonde was the DA?
