World exclusive skydiver video... watch the incredible footage here!

Shown here - and ONLY here - for the first time online is the amazing video from the helmet camera of British skydiver Michael Holmes.

It shows him plummeting 12,000ft to earth after both his parachutes failed, saying goodbye to the world... and hitting the ground with a sickening thud at 80mph.

Michael's friend, who jumped from the same plane, also filmed the whole event. He found his pal bleeding and unconscious - but alive.

here is the link to watch the video.

I couldn't get it to work in Firefox, it worked in IE.

I saw this a couple days ago. I wonder what injuries he suffered.

That worked for me too. But of course that's not Firefox either. It just grabs the IE engine and dumps it into a tab.

Anyway, does anyone remember that episode of Mythbusters where they tried different methods to slow down buster from falling off the building without breaking the "brain" in his head? It's just amazing this guy survived.

Heh. Check this dude out. Some guy went skydiving for the first time, and his chute ripped right off his back when he deployed it. He finally gets his reserve chute open, only to fly right into power lines while landing.

not to diminish what this guy did, cause holy moley, im really shocked he didnt die from a heart attack, but he had a little bit of a parachute open. i knew he had to when it said he fell 12K and hit doing 80mph. that didnt seem fast enough for me, but to even hit the ground that hard and survive is amazing

If you read through some of the comments on the site there's some speculation that the guy was actually traveling at 80 mph.

The "world exclusive" claim sucks balls if the video doesn't even work

The comment on the site I'm referring to talks about a more likely speed of about 40mph. Also, Peep's comment mentions that 80mph doesn't seem fast enough.

Here's the comment I was referring to:

"If the altitudes in the video are correct, he dropped the first 1000 ft in about 21 seconds and the last 1000 ft in about 18 seconds. This means that the impact speed is something like 17 m/s (meters/second) at maximum. This equals 60 kph or about 40 mph, which is only about half what's mentioned in the video.

Surviving rates of a person being hit by a car travelling at 40 mph is about 30%. We must say that he was very lucky because his parachute didn't fail completely and he landed into something soft which allowed slower deceleration upon impact. Hitting a harder place could potentially have been fatal.

Although the video is somewhat exaggerated with the numbers it's still pretty amazing."

Having skydived more than 5 times before (and believe me I am no expert) I still say this guy is extremely lucky! In my mind, it just reinforces the notion that everyone should live life to the fullest. Of course, you should always double check your shute as well!

i was remarking on what was said in the initial post, call me old fashioned, but i kinda thought what was said in Bants initial post was straight from the article. even then, if 80mph is true, it still seems like a very slow speed to hit the ground after falling 12000 feet, but of course youre not going to see that, cause you love me so much and like to pick apart anything i say, love you sweetie
