After finally figuring out torrents, I've begun downloading TV show eps for my girlfriend, and want to put them on VCDs.

I won't try and remember everything I've tried and all, because I've been at it 3 hours now and am fucking exhausted. Basically, here's the file info:

NAME: greys.anatomy.315.hdtv.xvid-notv
VIDEO: 23 fps / 141kbps
AUDIO: 16bit / Mpeg 3 / 128 kbps
Duration: 0:42:09

The show will play on my computer without a problem, but I can't get it on a VCD. I've tried using TMPGEnc to convert the file to a format conducive to VCD format, but with no luck.

Someone fucking help me, for the love of God!!

Ebola, have you considered just piling a whole bunch of them onto a DVD w/o converting them and getting a DVD player that is DivX compatible?

I guess the only problem would be waiting until you have enough to throw onto a DVD...

That would be absolutely brilliant - if I had a DVD burner. This is why I need to make VCDs. ;)

According to this, the PSone will play VCDs but the PS2 will not? What kinda bullshit is that?
If you're asking how to mod your PS2 to make it play VCDs, I haven't a clue ... I'm the guy who created the thread asking how to make VCDs in the first place!

hehe ... mod, as in mod-ify. Involves cracking your PS2 open and fiddling with it's insides. Something very few of us would be confident enough to try.

SOOOooo ... anyone have any word on getting DivX movies converted to VCD (not SVCD) format?

edit*never mind, I just realized that program I posted probably wouldn't be helpful. Oh well, I tried.

What program will you use to burn the VCD after you convert it? I couldn't find a good free program so I bought one called VCDEasy. It works alright.

I tried VCDeasy right away, then quicky learned that DivX isn't accepted by that program. Hence my thread of desperation.

use nero and download the vcd plugin and they will convert pretty much anything to the right format but it might take a little while.

download TMPGenc http://tmpgenc.net/ . convert the avi's to vcd mpegs. then with Nero start a new vcd burning project. that's it.

for ripping the vcd to your hd, and other tool's check out http://www.vcdgear.com .
