Growing up I always loved The Who, my dad loved them so I heard them all the time. I became obsessed with PJ when I was 16-17 and found it very satisfying that they also shared my love of The Who. Ther were, and still are 2 of my 3 favorite bands. When I first heard PJ cover the Who I was blown away. It was "Naked Eye" and I thought Vedder took the song to the next level. Over the years I have heard them do many, many covers. I have heard Vedder sing with Pete, the latest cover, etc.

what I want to know is if we could get a complete list together of all the covers and compilations PJ\Vedder has done of Who songs.

Check "the setlist archive" on theskyiscrape.com's homepage for the total list of songs PJ has done (artist is listed in parenthesis).

I know what you mean about growing up with the Who. I first borrowed "Who's Next" and "The Who By Numbers" from my local library when I was in 5th grade. Shortly afterwards, my mom's friend lent me a copy of Led Zeppelin's "Houses of the Holy". That pretty much did it for me.
But hearing those songs come from PJ either make me smile or make me frown. I think Baba is something PJ completely butchered. I never liked it. I think they did a great job on The Seeker and Naked Eye.

Zep is my 3rd or top 3 bands. I think they do a great job on Baba, the capture the energy of the song but the outtro doesn't do the song justice.

I didn't want to dig through all the songs. Thought there would be fans like me who knew every song they have done off the top of their head like I used to. My memory has gone to shit.

I didn't feel like digging through the list.

I actually like most of the PJ versions better than the Who versions. :?

Every time I see The Who live it's confusing because they play all those 'Pearl Jam covers' My next time will be at Roskilde 2007.

I've seen the who 3 times and they always play it early probably because they have bigger and better songs. For example, last time I saw them they ended with a 10 minute version of magic bus. Before that, the new bassist did a fairly good version of boris the spider.

oh yeah, they had better songs later in the set, i just meant that it was a strange thing. i've gotten baba very near the end of maybe 7 or 8 of the pj shows i have been to, so when it came on early in the who set, it was sorta humorous i guess.

I've always wanted to hear them do Dr. Jimmy. I think they would do a great job on anything from Quadrophenia.

I'd love to hear PJ do some sort of rock opera, I think they could pull it off.

Does that include songs Vedder has done live with Townshend? I could have sworn I've heard him do more than that list.

This is probably the best Who cover they've ever done. Every time you listen to it, you can almost feel that energy surrounding you.

So you are calling me a lazy fuck?

Just kidding, thanks for gathering that.

I find it amazing, and feel proud, that they have played with and are respected by so many rock legends. Usually this happens when bands have been around a long time and start getting "old". They got that respect early on and through their peak years. I love it.

This is pretty much the complete list. However, "I'm One" was played on 3/15/94

But you guys are forgetting two very obvious songs:
Leaving Here and Blue Red and Grey
